Leveraging Sept. 11, Giuliani Raises Forceful Voice for Bush
The New York Times

Just weeks before the Republican National Convention hits his hometown, Rudolph W. Giuliani is emerging as a central player in the Bush re-election effort, attacking John Kerry, racing around the country campaigning and directly leveraging the events of Sept. 11 in ways that President Bush and many of his closest allies have not dared.

In Boston during the Democratic National Convention, the former New York City mayor uttered his latest much-quoted Rudyism: "I don't need Michael Moore to tell me about 9/11." And when Mr. Kerry attacked the president's initial response to the terrorist attack, it was Mr. Giuliani who was dispatched to respond for the Bush campaign. ..

The alliance of Mr. Giuliani with the Bush campaign and the national Republican Party is in many ways quite remarkable, given his often ambivalent relationship to both. While the Bush team has much to gain from Mr. Giuliani's surrogacy, his enthusiasm in supporting the president may say just as much about the his own aspirations.

Numerous political consultants and former and current colleagues of Mr. Giuliani note that he is trying hard to raise his profile among voters and fund-raisers, and to repair his image with the more conservative core of the party, all to lay the groundwork for a future campaign, perhaps even the presidency. ..

17. You mean the Guiliani who left first-responders unprepared for 9/11?
Edited on Thu Aug-12-04 09:10 AM by slojim240
The same Guiliani who insisted that security and responder HQ be placed in the basement of WTC...and this knowing that the WTC had been bombed before? The same Guiliani who graft and corruption pushed huge contracts to organized crime groups so that NYC was grossly mismanaged? The same Guiliani who ushered in a new era of police brutality against blacks....oh, him?

2. Michael Moore showed us Bush doing nothing on 9/11
Maybe Rudy SHOULD see the movie.....it might change his opinion of Bush. Seeing him sitting in the classroom with a dumb look on his face while we are under attack might make him think twice about pushing Bush on us.

14. cheap shot
how dare Michael Moore show Bush's ACTUAL reaction to this historic event!

He should have done what EVERY other TV whore did, put Bush's real reaction in the memory hole, and show the STAGED megaphone reaction over and over and over again.

The terrorist attack "is the single most significant event that has happened in the last four years, and is maybe one of the most important events in our history," Mr. Giuliani said in a telephone interview. "So it has to be an issue in the election. Not discussing it would be like conducting an election for Abraham Lincoln and not discussing the Civil War."

8. Not Rudia's Dress up Parties with The Silicone Titted Judy!
Hey! The Silicon Titted Judy understands that being America's Mayor can get grueling. She understands that Rudy needs some Special Time to be "Rudia"....

That Special Time when Rudia can slip into the new pink, silk bra and panties set, (So Frilly! So Feminine! Yet So Naughty!) that Judy picked out at Bendel's this afternoon, especially for Rudia, her best, and prettiest, girlfriend!

That Bitch Hanover never even tried to understand!

That Bitch Hanover and her Divorce lawyers even threatened to put those SI Cones under oath in open court and ask their owner very detailed questions about all those Special Times that were occurring at Gracie Mansion, while the kids were upstairs.

But none of that matters now, as Judy dreams of White House dress-up with Rudia.

5. Rudy is turning into a 9/11 profiteer
As a New Yorker, I appreciated his presence that day like everyone else. But he's done the typical American thing; leverage a good societal deed into purely personal gain.

He formed a consultancy after his mayoralty ended. He travels around the world masquerading as a security guru (he's a New York City prosecutor by trade, not an intelligence and/or foreign policy expert). Now he's going to use 9/11 all over again at the convention to enhance his personal political stature.

Rudy knows that had 9/11 never happened, he would have been remembered as much for his messy divorce and a series of brutal police murders at the end of his mayoralty as for his crimefighter status. He was so damaged politically, he wouldn't go near Hillary Clinton in 2000 (I choose not to believe his stated reasons about his health and prostate cancer treatments; the man is too ambitious for that). And then he became a branded 9/11 product, like his new hero George W. Bush.

10. The Chimp loves to play dress-up, but wait till everyone gets a load
of Rudy. He may be the first cross-dresser in the White House, and wall-eyed Judi will be in the spotlight at last.

11. What is it with Rudy's eyes?
Saw him on the tube, his lower jaw wildly rotating and doing strange 'things with his eyes, like bugging them every other second. Reminded me of a guy high on coke.

13. Rudy needs to shut up. His "15 minutes" are so over. They were
over as far as I was concerned when he tried to parlay his fame as a 9-11 cheerleader into an unconstitutional extension of his term as mayor.
