Police: 'Overbooked' Kerry event posed risk (too many supporters)

.."John Kerry went to Flagstaff to talk with as many as people as possible," Walitsky said. "Were we concerned that too many people showed up? Absolutely not."

She did not have a final ticket count as of Wednesday because the tickets were distributed through multiple locations. But she said that estimates put the number of tickets as a little more than 10,000, about the estimated number in the crowd.

Weems said that for an event of that size, the venue was just too small, regardless of the fact that the crowd was exceptionally well-behaved and cooperative. ..

"I was surprised at how orderly it was," Weems said. "It was outstanding. They were very cooperative. For the most part, they were very understanding the event had been overbooked." ..

2. Great news for our side

I remember hearing a TV reporter say that Bush put the local media in the bus with him while the national media were in the bus behind him. The reason was that the local media (understandably) play up a visit to their area more than the national media.

I think this tour was a great idea. People on DU have posted a number of good articles that appeared in local papers.
