Ten Senior Military Officials Respond to Cheney's Latest Attacks
U.S. Newswire

"We are deeply disappointed by the tone and tenor of President Bush and Vice President Cheney's personal attacks on John Kerry, a decorated combat veteran who served his country with courage and honor. John Kerry is talking about his plan to address the most pressing issues facing our nation -- jobs, the economy, health care, the war on terror, the war in Iraq. George Bush and Dick Cheney have chosen take their campaign to the gutter. We call on President Bush and Vice President Cheney to stop the irresponsible personal attacks and tell us where they want to take the country. Tell us how they plan to win the peace in Iraq. Tell us how they plan to get us back on track with the war on terror. Tell us where they plan to lead the country. The American people and our troops deserve better."

Signed by:
Admiral William J. Crowe (United States Navy, Retired)
Admiral Stansfield Turner (United States Navy, Retired)
General Wesley K. Clark (United States Army, Retired)
General Merrill "Tony" A. McPeak (United States Air Force, Retired)
General Joseph Hoar (United States Marine Corps, Retired)
General Johnnie E. Wilson (United States Army, Retired)
Vice Admiral Lee F. Gunn (United States Navy, Retired)
Lieutenant General Claudia J. Kennedy (United States Army, Retired)
Lieutenant General Donald Kerrick (United States Army, Retired)
Lieutenant General Edward D. Baca

1. Wow, that is impressive.

I would like to see some air time on this!

4. Wow.
Wonder if it will GET any air time.

Is Move-On making any ads now? Can they use this?

(Here in CA, we don't see many campaign ads, so I don't know what's going on in the swing states).

11. It's interesting (or shamefull) that the Kerry camp uses US Newswire
I have been going there once in a while for a few years and it usually has releases the major media doesn't pick up. There is always a thing or two of interest but rarely anything the average person cares about. Quite a bit of environmental releases get my attention. The major media just aren't picking up the campaign on the local stations unless they think it's going to effect traffic.

IMO, local major media should be obligated to cover the campaigns in a reasonable matter. Perhaps the same people selling campaign advertising own the news outlets. That is just wrong. The FCC should require them to cover any event that is vital to community interests.

17. Trust me Mary Pat, they do keep up with the latest.
You can bank on it, that these Generals and Admirals are now labels as commies and traders of the worse kind and that should be shot at sunrise.

my understanding is thet the "news" organizations that you have mentioned do not report upon issues which may be construed as being politically bi-assed!

12. Dumbass is a loser...
and he will lose the election. In spite of the complicit Mass Media issuing pure propaganda for the Bush Admin. the truth is eeking out that the regime in power are screw-ups and a disaster for America and the world.

14. Can a few of you readers send a message to C-Span Washington
Journal and ask them to read it even though U.S. Newswire isn't a paper news source? Or better yet, ask them to invites one of the signers to appear?

They insist on reading from papers and insist on giving as much time to the Washington Times as they do the Washington Post (i.e., to the cult leaders voice).

18. How 'bout taking matters in our own hands, and writing
bunches of letters to news outlets, with this quoted.

Calimary has an excellent list......

Don't forget local tv news channels, radio, and letters to the editor. Not nearly as satisfying as a big story on CBS Evening News, but...... it's something WE can do.

What about a massive write-in campaign to Nightline...... to get the whole crew on?

Other suggestions?

This is up to us....

Kanary

19. Contact your favorite whore--ask them why we get swift boat slime all day
and yet see nothing about an appeal for decency by men and women who have devoted their entire careers to protecting our freedoms.

Here's my email to Judy:

I just don't get it:

You've given publicity and free air time to an ad created by political attack dogs--the hacks used by former Texas airspce protector George Bush to go after legitimate heroes like John Kerry and John McCain.

Are you aware that ten retired and active senior generals and admirals have issued a statement condemning the baseless attacks on John Kerry? If so, why haven't you reported on this appeal for decency by eminently successful men and women who have devoted their entire careers to protecting our country?

Is it that a smear campaign by political hacks is news, and a response from senior military commanders isn't? Or is it, as so many suspect, just that actual journalism just isn't your bag?

How did John F. Kerry earn his War Decorations?
Are they "ribbons?" Or are they "medals?"
And, why is Karen Hughes making a fool of herself, yet again?

24. Why won't the media give these guys 10 days of free media coverage?
They did it for Swift Boat Liars, why not for these guys who have a few things to say about Bush and Cheney?

Somehow a bunch of liars yelling about a candidate is bigger news than some military men and women talking about the president and vice president?

The liberal media.

26. The gutter is all they have
negativity, terror, threats. They have'nt a record to run on, and with control of everything for the last year and a half they should have been able to put something out.
The only positive thing that this bunch has done is the no call list, and that was pretty far down on the priority list.
