US Congressional Report Reignites Bush Tax-Cut Debate
http://www.international.nasdaq.com/asp/gmWorldNews.asp&headl">WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)

The Congressional Budget Office is expected to release Friday morning data that Democrats say corroborates their criticism of the tax cuts enacted under President George W. Bush in 2001, 2002 and 2003.

According to Democratic analysis of the CBO report, nearly $89 billion of the $270 billion in tax cuts for 2004 will go to the wealthiest 1% of Americans. Congressional aides were briefed on the report's contents Thursday afternoon. ..

Rangel noted that tax cuts for the wealthiest fifth of Americans will have lowered federal revenues by $180 billion in 2004. That, said Rangel, is about 40% of the projected deficit for 2004.

"Republicans will spin until they're dizzy, but the facts show the single biggest reason for the skyrocketing deficits is the Bush Administration's economic policies," Rangel said.

4. I wonder what 'news' event will supercede this story....
.......a Kobe twist? A Jackson car-dance? An explosion somewhere? ANOTHER man killing his wife (or one of the staples - Peterson...)

Perhaps a hurricane (at least it has relevance)?

6. Trickle Down died fast. Kerry should talk about that too.
Edited on Thu Aug-12-04 08:46 PM by Nambe
Investment by the $100k+ crowd has been very disappointing due to worries about the stock market (Enron), the war, and oil prices. That has been made worse by worries about the economy in the past two years. Trickle down has been tried three times and failed each time. In action it is truely a give-away to the rich at the expense of the workers. Republican voters are rightly called poorly informed, easily led (on), and insular in their thinking. IMO voting and parenting should accompany required reading with follow up tests. Dimson likes people taking tests, he wouldn't be in politics if voters were informed in economic and social histories.
