Bin Laden arrest getting closer: Pakistan interior minister
DUBAI (AFP)

Pakistani Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat said that his country's capture of top Al-Qaeda suspects brought Islamabad closer to the arrest of the terror network's chief, Osama bin Laden.

Pakistan has already penetrated the network, he said on Thursday.

We have penetrated deep inside this network, and this is a big achievement for our security services. We will not spare any effort or capability to track down these elements and networks, in full cooperation with the international community...

Hayat denied that Pakistan was under pressure from outside parties to pursue the search operations. "Pakistan is not under any pressure from any side, not even from the United States," he told the Dubai-based station. ..

8. We should barrage the press with letters
taunting Bush for having purposely (or recklessly) drawn out the suspense. Judging from the perfect timing of the recent Pakistan arrests, letting Bin Laden escape at Tora Bora may have been either calculated or allowed to happen to create suspense in the Rove/Cheney Adventures of Al Qaeda reality show. Whether Bush's letting Bin Laden escape was intentional or reckless, he sure owes Hollywood a lot on this one. Hitchcock couldn't have done it better. Unfortunately, we want the president to protect us, not put on a show in which real people get killed.

18. I think so too
The Bush administration has created many other Osama bin Ladens and supporters. Killing him won't be the end of this war on terror. Their struggle goes on.

9. I don't know if they can capture him
what they do then? unlike the vast majority in Gitmo, Osama's hardly a faceless nonentity, I can't see them being able to hold him incommunicado and not press charges for years. Apart from the recruiting boon that'd be for Al Qaeda linked groups I'd have thought most US citizens wouldn't be too happy with it either, they want to see him in court and I just don't see that happening.

11. They've um...already got him
He's not in Gitmo, he's in a max security holding cell in Pakistan. They're going to drag him to a remote location and blow him away within one month of the election.

Gotta be fresh meat.

16. "Pakistan has already penetrated the network"
Didn't they also facilitate the 9/11 attack? I know Bush just forgave $500MM in debt, so there has to be a payoff somewhere. But will it really matter? I say, keep talking about the surprise....best we can do is be prepared for it. I doubt he's alive or in one piece....I suspect that they have DNA slides they'll announce as "evidence". He departed a loooong time ago.

20. Breaking: Pakistanis Fail To Get Memo RE bin Laden
(courtesy of cursor.org)

‘I truly am not that concerned about him’, said President George W Bush on 13 March 2002, after being asked the million-dollar question ‘where is bin Laden?’ once too often. ‘Deep in my heart I know the man is on the run, if he’s alive at all’, said Bush, brushing bin Laden off as ‘a person who has now been marginalized.'

There's a flip-flop in here somewhere.

25. I just think it's a win-win situation
If they don't capture or kill him they've failed to bring terra'st enemy number 1 to justice.

If they do capture or kill him this close to the election there are enough people catching on to these criminal marketeers who will see it for what it is - a political move that was timed just for *'s re-election.

Just my humble opinion.

27. Does anyone really doubt for any moment that they have known where
Bin Laden is? I mean, they always knew how to get arms and money to him when he was in Afghanistan fighting the Soviets with the Muhajadeen, and they know exactly where he is now and for the last 3+ years and will "shoot him down" in a big Western Cowboy shootout sometime in mid-October where he "dies" (keeping a body on ice can't fool the coroners and forensic experts) and then they will go on a big media blitz to the American public showing how they are successful at combating terrorism and keeping safe and therefore the American public should keep Bu$h & FUCheney another 4 years. They could have gotten him within months of the events of 9/11, but why? It was far more beneficial to allow them the 3+ years in between to scare the American public, implement their policies and attacks on the Constitutional rights of Americans and to line the pockets of their benefactors.

They are on plan....

:grr:

33. I don't think they will ever take a Bin Laden...that BL family is tight
within their bloodline and between the Bin Ladens and the Bushes.

If they take him, there will be some slip up or clone who will live in luxury paid by Rove pocket money - money gained from duping the public as in Enron or in grand profits from off shore banking.

As already said - it doesn't make any difference whether he's caught because thousands and thosands of little Bin Ladens have been converted to terrorism by our imperialistic and pompous tactics and positions. Someone is paying for it and the volunteers are unending. And no one wants peace.

I believe Bush told the truth when he dismissed the importance of Bin Laden (meaning - importance to their agenda). The name Bin Laden does the job of creating fear whether there is or is not a living or dead body.

Has anyone answered the question yet as to why Christian and Jews have partnered with Muslims in the Bush troikas? The Family of Bush (which is the family of many organizations and corporations) with the Family of Sharon with the Families of Saud?

36. hope the press's new found skepticism (NYT, WP) holds up
I know, I know, fat chance, but I hope the recent mea culpas from at least those to papers means that they will dig into the timing behind this in the way they admit they did not on WMD's before the war. This is so blatant. They just need to find the evidence.

what with all these threats and communications going on, one would think OBL would be keeping with tradition and release audio or video tapes of a call to arms or something. but nobody's heard a word from the bastard for what... months and months now.

personally, i think he's already on ice. waiting for the right time to be the savior of the day for junior.

I guess we really do overestimate the gullability of American voters. This is getting ridiculous. Why are our solidiers dying in Afghanistan if Bin Laden in in Pakistan?? Do you guys really think that they'll produce him for the election? I kind of don't, because Bush and his family is still close to Bin Laden's family, and I honestly don't think the Bush family wants him found.
