Bush Declines to Condemn Attack Ads on Kerry
LOS ANGELES (Reuters)

President Bush praised John Kerry's military service as honorable on Thursday but declined to condemn ads from Vietnam veterans who questioned the Massachusetts senator's military record. ..

Sen. John McCain of Arizona, a Republican who also served in Vietnam, has urged the White House to denounce the ads. Although McCain and Kerry are friends, McCain is supporting Bush's re-election and campaigned with him this week. ..

Also in the interview, the president defended his lengthy pause in a Florida classroom when he was first told of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.

"Well, I had just been told by (White House Chief of Staff) Andrew Card that America was under attack. And I was collecting my thoughts," Bush said. "I think what's important is how I reacted when I realized America was under attack. It didn't take me long to figure out we were at war."

1. Fine
Then Kerry ought not to have to "condemn" the rantings of Whoopi Goldberg at a concert, and they better not demand that Kerry "condemn" the actions of the many protestors who will be coming to NYC in a couple of weeks.

22. Good Call...
But incredibly wishful thinking. Hannity wanted Kerry to condemn the Heinz company for "off-shoring" jobs.

2. Gathering his thoughts
while who knew how many hijacked planes were in the air?

And why did the secret service not hustle him out of there asap?

Not only could the children be in danger simply because of his presence, but who knew if a plane wasn't heading at that school while he sat there reading My Pet Goat.

I just ask myself, and my mainly conservative family, what if that had been Gore or Clinton that did that?

He would never have lived that down.

3. ROVES " WILLIE HORTON REDUX" 2004
The local FAUX CHANNEL plays the SWIFT BOAT LIARS and DYSFUNCTIONAL VETS commercial at least 4 times an hour. They have played it 3 times in a half hour during the news.

These Right Wing Nazi Neofascists will stop at nothing. THEY are very well funded. This is not a small undertaking. I have seen it at least 30 times in the last few days. I'm sick of it.

5. Haven't seen the ads.
Do they accuse Rasmussen of lying in a way that is specific enough to justify a libel suit on his part?

Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 01:27 AM by AnnitaR
Hundreds of years from now this idiot will still be remembered as the worst pResident in the history of this country!

Maybe he was sitting there wondering "which child he should pick up first"!

If this stupid fuck doesn't lose by a landslide I will cry for my country.

17. It would be hilarious if it wasn't pathetic.
My husband and I were watching television coverage after the first plane hit. When the second plane hit, my husband looked at me and said, "This is war."

It took about a tenth of a second for him to realize this.

21. "Hi Jack?"
-Hi Jack? Why did Andy call me Jack? My name's not Jack, it's George. Nice of him to come and greet me though, but why Jack? He could've called me George or W. or Dubya or Shit-for-brains or...-

And this goes on for approximately seven minutes.

8. So dimson is driving and you tell him to turn right. 20 minutes...
later, he turns right. No wonder he is a deserter, he couldn't find the base turning every twenty minutes. I've called him dimson for a long time but I really didn't realize how handicapped he is.

9. With so much red-meat in this Bush appearance
. . . how come Kerry allows his spokesman to make a little feeble boilerplate "statement?" Is that the end of it? Why not highlight Bush's tacit approval of those swiftboat ads?

Kerry better get on the horn and run some counter-ads to those idiotic swiftboat slanders. He better do it soon. Like yesterday.

12. How long does it take to deliberate...
...and gather your two foremost thoughts, "Who can I kill for Jesus today?" and "Shucks, I betcha my friends would love me if I give them some more money." Gather his thoughts? Come on, can anyone honestly say they believe that Bush has enough "thoughts" that it would take seven minutes to gather them? This wasn't a decision as to whether you had to pinch it off or force another loaf. What a jackass.

14. Gathering his thoughts. Is that the best he can come up with?
Gathering his thoughts should have had his ass up from that chair and out of that school and on a phone talking to people either finding out what was what, or ordering the second plane down.

He was gathering his thoughts as to how he was going to explain to America this attack in which I believe he was complicit and if he new AMERICA WAS AT WAR ... al the more reason for him to return to the WH, not hop around the country like a scaredy rat, and finally show his face with all sorts of sorry excuses.

The man is a moron and a traitor, and he is complicit in 9/11 even if just because he let it happen--but i think he let it happen with a purpose--because voila from 9/11 to Patriot Act and WMDs he just needed to stoke the fires and he would have ALL THE POWER THAT HIS ADDICTION TO POWER WANTED TO RID THE WORLD OF SADDAM HUSSEIN AND US OF OUR DEMOCRACY.

16. I don't think he "Let it happen" but I do think he was taking the time
to think how to CYA rather than how to prevent further loss of life. Think about it - if he really had been paying attention to the terrorism warnings he would have known after the FIRST plane hit that this was probably a terrorist strike and not an accident - and he would never have gone into the classroom in the first place.

15. But the thought didn't cross his mind, "As CIC I have to get out of this
classroom and see if there is anything I need to do to stop further attacks?" Seems to me that is not too much to ask of the CIC in middle of a surprise attack. Leaving the classroom doesn't preclude him having time to "collect his thoughts." He should be collecting his thoughts in the presence of advisors who can counsel him as to wtf we do now. Besides, shouldn't the President's staff have a response plan ready that can be implemented at a moment's notice in the case of an attack on the country? More evidence that this President really doesn't have a clue about what it is he is supposed to be doing.

18. Then He Condones The Lies. KKKarl Rove is behind all of this, I'm sure
but it's such a backfire issue because all it does is compare and contrast Kerry's war record with AWOL's lack of one.

27. We need to accuse Bush of being two-faced on this.
He praises Kerry's service but refuses to criticize or even question those who besmirch that service. I think such an accusation should be started by someone in the media.
