Bush says he's ready to take "rap" over Iraq
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/us_vote_bush

Bush said the United States has "an obligation to lead" in world security.

Interviewer Larry King told how after the failed Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in 1961, President John F. Kennedy "took the rap".

Bush interrupted to state: "I'm taking the rap, too, of course."

****
This has a smarmy criminal feel to it. yeah, yeah, if, at the end of my TRIAL (oops, I mean the elections), the jury finds me guilty (I mean doesn't elect me), I guess I'll have to take the rap. Meantime, no way I'm accepting responsibility for what I did or saying I'm wrong.

2. So Bush was saying Iraq was about as well advised as the Bay Of Pigs?
You can't take the rap for a mistake unless there was a mistake

13. You "take the rap" for a crime.
The Bay of Pigs was a crime. So is the war in Iraq.

5. "Taking the rap," sure he is!
Like he did for his DWI!

Like he did for going AWOL!

Like he did for running businesses into the ground!

Like he did for conspiring to out Valerie Plame!

He's never been held accountable for anything in his life! Not once!

Some fucking character!

6. Larry King should have called Bush's bluff
and asked that he take the rap on Iraq right here and now, in front of a TV audience.

I'd bet that he'd take his "deer in the headlights" look to new heights.

7. He knows their leaders well, huh
"There's 30 nations now involved in Iraq. And I know their leaders well."

They say Etricea is in the Coalition of the Willing. Etricea doesn't even have a functioning government ... it's a UN protectorate.

I don't understand why the media never gave them a hard time about all the crap we were told before hand ... sure, it makes the news for a few days when the Senate Intel committee issues a report, but these are the facts of the case:

1. The White House showed the press satellite photos of an alleged uranium refinement facility - the presenter said, quote, "If you look at the picture, you'll see it's an active facility."
2. The IAEA went to the facilities and reported, quote, "There is no indication of resumed nuclear activities in those buildings that were identified through the use of satellite imagery as being reconstructed or newly erected since 1998, nor any indication of nuclear-related prohibited activities at any inspected sites."
3. We invaded
4. Everyone pretended to be surprised we didn't find anything

I'm working on an essay to that effect ... supporting links and stuff:

15. "There's 30 nations now involved in Iraq"
Most of which we had to pay to be there. This is why I believe when the going gets rough (see Spain, Poland, S. Korea) the 'coalition' members are quick to say "screw this" and withdraw. If these 'coalition' members truly believed in the cause, they would still be there. 'Course then there's the 5 guys we got over there from Mauritania.

are fielding larger contingents at the Athens Olympics than in Iraq.

I'm sovereign from them. That means I'm a sovereign and separate entity. I have my own sovereignty. That's what sovereignty means.

Thank you for putting things in the proper perspective. I believe Bush doesn't care about the people who have paid the price for his stupid and criminal conduct.

And that the Iraq invasion was a criminal endeavor. That is the usual slang meaning of "take the rap".

28. Here's the full interchange, with my comments
LK "Does the buck stop with you? Pres. Kennedy was told the Bay of Pigs would go smoothly and he took the rap". B* "I've taken the rap too...That's what elections are about." LK "Didn't it say on that ship, 'The battle is over'". B* "Now be careful there, I didn't say (buck, prepare to be passed). I went on that aircraft carrier to thank the crew." LK "The sign said that" B* "The sign said mission accomplished and I was talking to sailors and pilots who had been on an extended tour...And I wanted to look them in the eye and thank them (Fact check time) In the speech I said, 'There is more hard work to do'. And I would do it again"

29. LBJ- took the rap for the Gulf of Tonkien
President Johnson quit the race in 1968 because he took the "rap" for the failure and lies.
Let bushie take the same rap.
tib

(why do none of the pundits mention LBJ a President who lied us into a war we didnt need to be in-- Same as Bush. Bush needs to resign in disgrace like LBJ) (and I even liked lbj who did alot of good, unlike bush)
