Democrats Are Urged to Reject 'Tired' GOP Attacks
Washington Post

As John Edwards rallied a large, friendly crowd at North Dakota State University on Saturday afternoon, nothing in his demeanor suggested he was frustrated or angry or worried about the barrage of criticism hurled this week at him and Democratic presidential nominee John F. Kerry.

Instead, he has told audiences who have come to cheer on the Democratic ticket to reject "the tired, old, hateful, negative politics of the past." ..

"I think it's frustrating to listen to the Republicans and all their negativism, but I don't think it's really helping them," said Hiram Sirjord, 67, a retired postal worker. "I think you've got to try to be uplifting for people and get them to the polls."

"I just think the people are getting smarter as to Mr. Bush's antics. I think Bush is money-hungry, he's power- hungry, and I think people are starting to smarten up and see through him," Jan Gion, 53, a high school teacher in Fargo, said Saturday as she waited for Edwards at the rally. She would rather see the Democrats "play positive politics rather than the dirty politics," she said. "I have a lot more respect for that." ..

2. Yes! New Kerry-Edwards strategy: Both take the high road!
Seems like a good new strategy. Let Cheney take the low road. He is comfortable sneering, snarling, and being vulgar.

There are good democrats to strike the odd karate chop now and then, as needed, like Harkin today.

12. Kerry's Vietnam Record
All the Republican crap and accusations about Kerry's war record. We should ignore them and refuse to answer.

There is one question, when it comes to the military records of the two candidates than we have to ask and ask often:

WHERE WAS GEORGE?

That should be our battle cry....WHERE WAS GEORGE?

3. When Bush and Cheney speak they talk terror
and fear.

When Kerry and Edwards talk, they talk hope and help.

Nice.

5. Bushies could at least be a little more assuring and preach of something
that has an end, like armageddon, for example.

6. I agree. The GOP neocons are completely out of their element
when it comes to lifting the hearts and minds of people. Fear has a short shelf life, and wears people out. People simply get TIRED of feeling that way. Optimism energizes!

8. This makes me happy
I have always hated the sort of 'debate' that's been the cornerstone of this campaign season. "Vote for me, I suck less ass" has never been a slogan to enfuse me with hope for the future.

Actually, maybe I should take that back. If a candidate actually DID use that exact slogan, I'd probably vote for him on general principles. :)

In case you're curious, mine's going to be "Nimrod: Close Enough For Government Work".
