Green candidate criticizes Kerry's stand on Iraq, says Bush worse
SACRAMENTO (AP)

..Green nominee David Cobb said the Massachusetts senator was "no progressive," but he also said that President Bush was "qualitatively worse." And Cobb indicated he has a different message for voters in swing and non-swing states.

In states like California where one candidate has a big lead in the polls, Cobb is urging liberal voters to support him instead of Kerry. But in swing states where the race is close the message is "vote your conscience" for president and support Greens for other offices, he said...

10. Poor David Cobb, ignored and maligned by critics from the Left and Right
Perhaps the hardest hitting criticism of the illustrious Mr. Cobb can be found in Jeffrey St. Clair's The Green Deceivers.

If some of you found Jep Bush's electoral tactics to be undemocratic, you will be pleased to know that the Green Party's nomination process was even more undemocratic, to put it mildly.

I rather you have some coffee and donuts than bother to waste broadband on Mr. Cobb, but if you are curious as to how some leftists view his campaign, here is the link:

Just what is so fricking wrong about a practical strategy for gaining power in this country as opposed to the suicide voter approach of Ralph Nader?

That approach leads to a Bush dictatorship, then the only way we can get rid of the bastards is through violence.

Yes, Cobb is being unfairly miligned by a couple of old Stalinists that pine for violent revolution, and want to dominate the leftests. Same no alternative arguments Tony Blair and his minions offer.

Vote for Cobb or Nader or Dave Mathews for that matter but vote intelligently. If you vote third party is a swing state like New Hampshire again you are dumb. End of story.

2. Gee, how very fucking noble of him!
The Greens totally lost it for me after 2000, they can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. Who gives a shit what they have to say? If Cobb really cared about this country and the implementation of progressive/liberal policies and if he really wanted to get rid of Shrub, he'd stay the hell out of the race. It's just that simple.

6. Um, Lisa?
That "Democrats can do no wrong" mindset of yours is not healthy.

Just thought I'd mention it!

16. Dean, where did I ever say that "Democrats can do no wrong?"
I've never, ever thought that, in fact, I have my own issues with my party which are too numerous to get into here. And we're not talking about Dems, we're talking Greens.

Just thought I'd mention THAT.

17. I was a registered Green for the 1996, 1998, and 2000 elections...

...and am sick and goddamned tired of being told that WE cost Al Gore the White House. The truth--with which many Democrats still refuse to accept--is that Al Gore cost himself the White House. I've long-since outlined the dozen or so reasons that I believe that and won't repeat myself here. Suffice it to say, I can't help but wonder if Al Gore really wanted to be president!

Thankfully, John Kerry appears to have learned a lot from the Gore campaign's incredible screw-ups. I guarantee you, if there's a contested state this year on which the presidency hangs in the balance, Senator Kerry goddamned sure will order a statewide recount, and he won't tell his supporters to stand down while the GOP overruns the state with paid operatives!

3. Good I like this guy
Of course in my opinion Kerry is progressive enough, maybe not as progressive as most Green politicians, but I think I fit in more with Kerry's brand of progressiveness than the Green Party's stance.

I will say though it is my hope that someday the two major parties that emerge eventually are the Democrats and the Greens. I admire and support alot of Green positions in particular on healthcare, drug laws, and corporate welfare (although I think the Democrats are looking to abolish corporate welfare now)
