Kerry leading Bush in key swing states
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Although polls show the US presidential race a virtual dead heat, Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) appears to be gaining an edge over George W. Bush among the key states that could decide the outcome.

An AFP review of various polls showed the Massachusetts senator leading in the hunt for the decisive 538 electoral votes that are apportioned among the states and awarded in separate winner-take-all contests.

1. Holy Cow--even North Carolina is a swing state now!!

This is amazing. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Virginia will flip. My whole extended family lives there and it would be a beautiful thing to see that state turn blue.

2. probably in more ways than one
lot of Army ppl in NC at fort bragg. They will not be voting the same way as they did in 2000. Who wants 3 out of 4 years to be in Iraq or some other wonderful place like South Korea.

Plus on another thread there was the talk of the 19-26 yo or so that * is losing big time.

5. Welcome to DU!
I actually went to the forum and read the comments-there were some good ones! Was yours the long one that explained everything Shrub has done wrong, or the one that said Shrub was a C student and a D- president?

and complained that he ismissing the Olympics...he sounds down..real down...just wants to get the hell out of there, wants to be home..
Looks like a lot of the military guys over there are voting for Kerry, he says...anyone but Bush....
anyone but Bush
and then we have to hold Kerrys feet to the fire...remember...the president of the United States WORKS FOR THE PEOPLE NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND....

Bush can't win -- even with the help of Orange Alerts:

• Ohio's total non-farm employment stood at 5,615,000 at the end of
2000, but only 5,372,000 in June of this year.

• Kentucky had a record 1,830,000 jobs in December 2000, but only
1,793,000 in June 2004.

• Indiana's non-farm employment stood at 2,975,000 in December 2000,
2,916,000 two months ago.

In Ohio, a swing state that is crucial to Bush's re-election prospects, as in Kentucky and Indiana, jobs have emerged as a central issue in the campaign. All three states reflect the national pattern: heavy job losses during the economic downturn, a modest recovery, but still not enough new jobs to offset the layoffs. According to data reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

11. "the president is making a strong move in Pennsylvania"
Where do they get this stuff?

Every poll in Pa. shows Kerry with a strong and growing lead.

"SOURCES IN WASHINGTON ARE SAYING THAT THE GRAND jURY IN THE VALERIE PLAME CASE HAS HANDED UP SIX SEALED INDICTMENTS FOR BUSH ADMINISTRATION FIGURES IN THE WHITE HOUSE AND ON CHENEY'S STAFF.

IF TRUE, THIS ELECTION IS OVER AND KERRY WILL WIN IN A LANDSLIDE."
