Despite Surge in Arrests, Bin Laden's Trail Is Still Icy
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-chase16aug16,1,7205890,print.story?coll=la-home-headlines

Despite a surge in arrests of al-Qaida suspects, a senior Pakistani anti-terrorism official said Friday that investigators still had not found the trail of their main target, Osama bin Laden.

"You can only be sure you're closing in on someone when you at least have a hint of his whereabouts," Brig. Javed Iqbal Cheema said. "With regard to Osama bin Laden himself, I would say that we are not getting any substantial leads as yet."

Cheema, head of the National Crisis Management Cell at the Interior Ministry, said Pakistan was "working hand-in-glove with the U.S. government" in a sweep that had netted more than a dozen suspects in the last two weeks. Among those detained is Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, who was indicted in the United States for his alleged role in the 1998 bombings of two U.S. embassies in East Africa.

Pakistani intelligence sources say FBI agents are playing a crucial role in tracking suspects by intercepting cell phone calls and other actions.

One source familiar with the investigation said Washington had stepped up pressure on Pakistani authorities to turn their latest leads into the capture of more high-level targets before the U.S. presidential election in November.

4. CIA two years ago said...
that they suspected that Usama went to Indonesia right after the Bora Bora assult. I sure don't think he would still be around Pakistan.

5. US satellites can read a license plate from orbit, yet
we don't know where bin Laden is? Horse shit. bu$h's handlers know exactly where bin Laden is and have known since Day One. They're "saving" him for just the right moment.

9. What's the rule for thawing a turkey in the fridge?
About one day for every pound? Bush & Co. have probably had bin Laden thawing in the fridge since about May, ready to go some time during the Republican Convention in a couple of weeks.

10. I've seen newscasts where some military spokesman
is showing satellite footage and was able to identify certain people from those pictures.

If they can do this, certainly they could see places where Iraq was producing and transporting WMDs...if they had them.

11. maybe we just lie about our amazing technology to scare folks. sort of
like letting people believe that the pentagon was protected by missiles. or that we could scramble planes really quickly to protect the US. remember when we lost AN ENTIRE FREIGHTER that was sailing around iran or libya or somewhere? It was huge but we claimed we didn't know where it went?

Maybe we can take a picture of a license plate from space, but it's just a RANDOM license plate, not the one we were looking for.

14. Your picture basically summed it up.
What I was going to say that is.

Really, Osama is staying in the guest house at the Crawford ranch until they decide to pull him out for a last ditch campaign bounce. My vote is October 27th. That's late enough people won't have a lot of time to question it.

13. They can't arrest their partner ! They can have him killed
so he won't talk, but no way can he come to trial and possibly implicate the REAL culprits of 9-11.

15. if they couldn't find a penniless Eric Rudolph in North Carolina
when nobody was ambushing the FBI, how are they going to find a millionaire with a huge support system in Pakistan, Afghanistan or Southeast Asia when there is all kinds of potential for ambushes?
