Family of Iraq Abuse Whistleblower Threatened

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Relatives of the U.S. soldier who sounded the alarm about abuse of Iraqi detainees at Abu Ghraib prison said on Monday the family was living in protective custody because of death threats against them.

Reservist military police officer Staff Sgt. Joseph Darby alerted U.S. Army investigators about the abuse by fellow soldiers of prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad, a move his wife says has angered people in their community in western Maryland.

"People were mean, saying he was a walking dead man, he was walking around with a bull's eye on his head. It was scary," said Bernadette Darby from Corriganville, Maryland.

Treat a hero,when that hero challenges their assumption to power and "right" to abuse" (there is NO right for any person or govt.to abuse anyone for any reason BTW)
Darby is a Hero...And he is one soldier I can feel proud of.He has guts.More guts than most.
All it takes to be a hero nowadays is saying no to the wishes of very sick and powerful interests holding the world hostage so they might never feel poverty. A hero's character exists in all of us. It's in a person with functioning empathy,who can think for himself on behalf of his own humanity, who has humane standards of conduct he holds self evident in his own heart,so he walks his talk..Standards of responsibility that go beyond taking orders,a person who has inner integrity ,true moral character,an inner locus of control,and the guts to stand up against deep corruption and abuse in hierarchically superior places.

He wasn't another bystander waiting for someone else to report it someone else to step in..He stepped in.How I wish we'd all step in.Corruption would have no place to hide if people would NOT keep bystanding..He wasn't waiting for the brass to clean up their act.No he just moved aside the curtain so that we would get a glimpse of the kinds of sociopath pigs running this country,stealing abusing.Another stupid empire just like Rome was is abusing kids behind the Terra alert- flag waving holier than thou, curtain..
