Rumsfeld Rejects 'Fortress America' Charge (by McCain)
WASHINGTON (Reuters)

.. Rumsfeld responded to concerns voiced by Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona during an Armed Forces Committee hearing on another issue.

McCain, a former Navy pilot and prisoner of war in Vietnam, told Rumsfeld he was especially worried about plans to withdraw 12,500 of the 37,000 U.S. troops now in South Korea.

"I hope as some critics allege this is not a retreat to 'Fortress America'," the senator said.

"I am concerned about it and I hope we can get as full an explanation as possible," McCain added of the realignment plan, that would also bring two heavy armored divisions and 30,000 American troops home from Germany beginning as early as 2006.

"I am particularly concerned about moving troops out of South Korea when North Korea has probably never been more dangerous than at any time since the end of the Korean War."

Nobody told McCain that Rummy has a new PS2 console and he is going to destroy everyone who sneers at him with remote control drones?? Maybe he didn't get the memo... come to think of it.. neither did I.

4. another example
of all hat and no cattle. This is a long way off and pragmatically speaking not easily done. It is also another example of our arrogance in thinking we can act once unilaterlly. We have got to make changes or we will have no friends anywhere.

5. Debating something that wouldn't take place for ..
two years from now anyway. Why don't they debate whether charges should be brought against Rumsfailed?

Rumsfailed Admitted to Violating Geneva Convention

Rumsfailed admitted in public that when CIA Director Tenet requested that an Irai prisoner be sent to a secret Afghan/US Prison that Rumsfailed did so. After four months a DOD Attorney stated that this was an illegal act. Rumsfailed then ordered that this prisoner be sent back to Abu Graib but the prisoner was not listed at that location. That is two violations of the Geneva Convention. Tenet and Rumsfailed violated the Geneva convention, thereby also The Constitution of the USA.

Not one complaint or charge was made regarding Rumsfailed and Tenet, not even by any Dem in Congress. Rumsfailed's admission came after some in Congress called for his resignation and after Rep. Rangel issued Impeachment of Rumsfailed, which nothing has been heard of since/.

Does the US no longer follow the Geneva Convention or the Constitution of the USA?

It appears so.
