Nader gains spot on W.Va. ballot
Nader gains spot on W.Va. ballot

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader's name will appear on West Virginia's general election ballot in November, the secretary of state's office said Tuesday.

An incomplete review of Nader's petitions shows his campaign gathered 15,302 valid signatures, exceeding the 12,962 he needed, said Cindy Smith, team leader of the secretary of state's election division.

Nader's campaign submitted petitions bearing 23,000 signatures last month.
Libertarian presidential candidate Ed Clark also will appear on the ballot, Smith said. That review showed Clark had 13,712 valid signatures.

1. Choice
The more choices people have, the better.

Who knows if this will be as close as it was last time? Bush needs the state to keep his 2000 coalition together. I don't think Kerry will appeal to Union guys when all is said and done. Hasn't the head of a large union said they should throw in the towel and wait for 2008?

5. That type of 'choice' will lead to more thousands
of deaths.

But I'm willing to assume that Nader is a smart guy, and is just suckin' in the R $'s before he withdraws in OCT. I'm so sure I'll bet on it. He may be egotistical, but he knows which way the wind is blowing and will want history books to remember him with a BANG - not a fizzle.

12. Are you kidding? Surely you know good & well there are many differences
Edited on Tue Aug-17-04 09:25 PM by demo@midlife
between Kerry & Shrubya - too many to even name. But for one, Kerry was instrumental in exposing Iran-Contra, whereas BushCo has spawned so many scandals, but they've simply been downplayed by our complicit "liberal" media.

There's a lot more at stake than the ability to have "choices." We can count on having few, if any, choices about anything if Kerry doesn't win.

That Nader wasn't/isn't a spoiler is one of the biggest false memes around in recent history. And I place absolutely no trust in Nader or Bush, because they're both opposite side of the same coin. That's my ten cents' worth - as in, as far as trustworthiness, "there's not a dime's worth of difference between Bush and Nader."

22. Missed by that much!
There is little difference between Kerry and Bush-I am sure you meant to say it that way, right?

Kerry on Iraq-Stay the course.
Kerry on Israel-support Ariel Sharon
Kerry on troop withdrawals around the world-leave them there
Kerry on No Child Left Behind-keep it in place and fund it. (a serious disaster)
Kerry on tax breaks for corporations-give them more.

Golly, he is out Bushing Bush.

Nader didn't spoil 2000. The DP and DLC did it. Why are you not railing against the 8 million Reagan Dems who voted for Bush? About 15 times the number of votes Gore had over Bush in 2000, and 3 times the TOTAL number of votes for Nader.

The DLC said about labor, liberals/progressives-we'll move to the right-where else are these people gonna go? Well, you are finding out. The Labor Party. The Green Party, The Socialists, the Worker's Party, the Repug party, to independent status. The DP has kissed off over 11 million voters in the last decade. Can you afford to keep that up much longer?

13. uh, yeah.....
read the Nader news lately? He is suckin' like a Times Square prostitute, and gettin' PAID......good for him if he puts it to good use.
Running for Prez against a sociopath is not a good use - he is smart enough to know that.

I hope....do you?

2. I want every single one of those signatures checked and double checked
If there is so much as an undotted i or an uncrossed t, an invalid phone number or the listed address does not match the voter's registered address I want that signature tossed.

8. jeb-esque?
well, that's what happens when a junta takes over and starts running things...stuff like that starts seeming normal to some people. demonising nader won't defeat bush. redefeating bush, now with his extensive record of ruinous policies and actions, is the task at hand.

don't get distracted over there.

17. According to the LAT interactive 2004 Electoral Vote Tracker:
West Virginia American Research Group poll. July 26-28, 2004.
N=600 likely voters statewide. MoE ± 4 :

Bush 44%
Kerry 47%
Nader 3%
Unsure 6%

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-polldatapage.htmlstory

LAT site further indicates that although WV went Bush 2000, it went Clinton 1992/6 and Dukakis 1988.

WV is in play and within reach. RN is irrelevant.

9. Ed Clark?
I thought Badnarik was the LP candidate for president. Ed Clark was a candidate in 1980, as 10 seconds of Googling has revealed.

Any of the DUers ever been to WV? I have, my family owns land there and when we used to go there on weekends from Washington DC, I can assure you that there weren't many "Greens" or "Progressives" around...

What a joke...this is proof that the Repukes worked hard on this one...

Nader is an a-hole....
