Iraq's Sadr agrees to end Najaf crisis

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr agreed Wednesday to demands to leave a holy shrine and disarm his militia, one of his spokesmen said.

"Yes, Sayyed Moqtada has agreed to the demands," Sheik Mahmoud al-Sudani told Reuters. But he could not confirm that Sadr had sent a letter announcing his acceptance to a national conference meeting in Baghdad to elect an interim assembly.

1. He agreed to these kinds of demands before, but the US and Allawi

keep backtracking on their offers. They are using similar tactics the US Government used against the American Indians in the 19th century.
