Huge population growth forecast for poorer nations
Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 12:36 PM by serryjw
----quote
Developing countries will grow about 14 times as fast as rich, industrialized countries between now and 2050, the Population Reference Bureau projected yesterday.
The population of more developed countries -- the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and some in Europe -- is 1.2 billion but is projected to increase by barely 4 per cent by 2050 and remain less than 1.3 billion, the private U.S. agency said.

The 5.2 billion population of less developed countries is projected to grow 55 per cent by 2050 and to exceed eight billion.

The United States is the biggest exception among industrialized countries; its population is expected to rise 43 per cent to 420 million. Cox
This will be a disaster for your children. This national consumes more than any other per capita and where are the jobs going to come from? We will have a Walmart on every corner. When is the Pope/Church going to recognize their position on birth control is a WMD?

1. the pope will never change
when he came to Mexico a few years ago and didn't speak out on birth control...I realized he never would. It is as if he doesn't worry about poverty and all that, he just sees more people as more souls for Christ.l

And in our country all I have to do is look at that situation in the SW, the fires, the drought, etc., and more people move there every day. Lake Mead, Lake Powell are dropping, dropping, dropping.

And don't get me going on Bangladesh, India, etc.

5. No one at all remembers this
and no one noticed at the time, but back in '93, by my estimate, there was a small news item that made the page 3 "in other news" column. It reported that the Catholic church, concerned over dropping attendance levels in America, had done a study about what they should do about it. The study concluded that there was nothing for them to worry about as long as the numbers of legal and illegal immigrants from Mexico and Central and South America remained high, and as long as they could be counted on to keep reproducing once they reached the U.S.
I'm not some bigot making this up, this was their own logic! The Catholic church is depending on latino immigrants, and depending on them to have lots of kids, to keep the numbers of the faithful from dwindling in this country.
Historically, birth rates always tend to drop in a country when its populace reaches a certain level of prosperity. The Catholic church is up against this established pattern of human behavior.

6. I think the church still has dropping attendance, right?
And the Mexicans don't give much because they are so damn poor. In the chicago area their churches often have to be given money by other parishes. They have a lot of kids here and then send a lot of money to Mexico and there isn't a lot of left over for the church. How did I get rambling on the church? I wouldn't worry about the bigot thing, facts are the facts. I am an ex-catholic and since certain dioceses are declaring bankruptcy over the pedophile priests they won't be getting much money in from their new immigrant parishioners (because they have no spare cash)or their old white parishioners, will they.

4. I agree
Whenever I look at pictures of starving people, whatever nation is in drought, they always show the pictures of a woman nursing a skeletal kid with flies crawling all over and the woman always seems to have about 5 or so more under 5. And they're all dying!!!! IF THEY LIVE ON THE EDGE OF A DESERT AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RAIN, NOT A DROP FOR 2 YEARS, WHY ARE THEY HAVING KIDS EVERY 9 MONTHS.

I was listening to this guy in MX with 8 kids talking about how he couldn't feed his kids. But his wife was pregger again. Well, okay, have 5 more and cripe even more how you can't feed them. Then blame other countries for not giving you food.

It is amazing how China has gotten its population under control...but it was by force in many cases. But overall I have to highly commend them.

Bangladesh and those monsoons, a lot of the land noone should even be living on it as it is about a half inch above sea level. But they cannot seem to control their population at all.

Primal scream
