"RUPERT Murdoch, chairman and chief executive of The News Corporation Limited, has sounded a warning about the effect of oil prices on the world economy and said that if they go much higher it will "crunch" the US economy.

"The US is going to absorb the oil price where it is today with difficulty, and if they go much higher, it could really crunch us," Mr Murdoch told The Australian in an interview.

"I think we'll get through it all right but the danger is in the Middle East exploding -- such as a revolution in Saudi Arabia or somewhere like that -- and then you've got oil going $US80 a barrel.

"It would stop the American economy, it would stop the Japanese economy and it would stop the Chinese economy."

Since they've trotted out Murdoch to pitch the story they'll feed the proles. How long before the shoe drops? This little journalistic pearl points to an initial shock this coming winter.

"Let's see. We're facing some staggeringly hard times due to the decrease in EROEI (Energy Returned On Energy Invested). If we tell the truth, the People will turn on us and kick us out of office. But we're "at war" with a bunch of nasty A-Rabbs who have somehow snuck OUR oil under THEIR land.

13. On Faux Sunday Night - "Oil: America Over A Barrel"

One hour 'documentary' hosted by Newt (yea, that one). Only saw the last 35 minutes. Was not nearly as slanted as most of Faux's propaganda, except for the parts where they:

- Promoted opening up ANWR.
- Shilled for the energy bill.

Basically soft-peddled the energy problem. I guess when you have as uninformed a viewership as Faux, you can't destroy their belief system (unlimited resources) all at once.
