First I want to thank everyone who has already donated during this fund drive, and thank all of our ongoing monthly subscribers. The fund drive has been going pretty well so far, so we've been trying not to bother you all with too many posts for money. But you're not totally off the hook. :)

We depend on donations from our members to help us cover most of our monthly costs, which continue to increase. As the presidential campaign heats up, we've seen a steady increase in traffic to our site. We expect our traffic to continue increasing as we approach election day, and we're working hard to put in place the hardware and software infrastructure to handle it.
We're also working to make DU "campaign ready" for the fall. We already raised thousands of dollars for the Kerry/Edwards campaign. Thanks to all the hard work from dozens of DUers, we recently unveiled Campaign Underground, with lots of useful links and information. And in the next couple days we will finally unveil the long-awaited media blaster, and begin a coordinated grassroots campaign to help get the Democratic message out in local media across the country.
And of course, we'll continue to provide a meeting place where Democrats can get the news free from conservative bias, and discuss important issues with other like-minded individuals.
How much is Democratic Underground worth to you? Some days when I turn on the TV News, it seems like the country has gone completely insane and I'm the only one who sees it. Could you imagine what your life would be like without this amazing community of people? DU is like a lifeline for so many of us.
