Official on Leave Over Ten Commandments
HUMANSVILLE, Mo. -- A school superintendent who posted the Ten Commandments in a student cafeteria was put on leave without pay after saying he would not follow federal law on religious expression.

School officials declined to say whether Humansville Superintendent Greg Thompson would remain a district employee.

The 11-inch-by-14-inch plaque hung by Thompson shortly after he was hired six years ago was challenged in March by resident Carrie Roat, who argued in a federal lawsuit that the plaque violated the constitutional guarantee of separation of church and state.

According to school documents, Thompson told the school board earlier this month that he would not comply with the federal religious expression laws.

3. What part of "Separation of Church and State" don't fundies understand?
Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 09:45 PM by Zhade
Oh, right - "separation".

Look, I have no beef with them believing in the Big Ten (hell, if they actually LIVED them, this country would be better off), but you DO NOT IMPOSE YOUR PARTICULAR RELIGIOUS FANTASY ON MY KID! I do NOT pay taxes to fund what I view as nonsense being shoved down my son's throat.

Don't like the Constitution? Feel free to move to Iran, fuckers.

5. These guys never give up
Somebody needs to sit them down and force them to read those first three commandments and ask themselves how a Hindu child might feel about them. Or how girl children might feel about knowing when they grew up they were to be considered as property, along with an ox and other goods.

Morons.

9. I've got a few Cafeteria Commandments.
This might work better in a school cafeteria. I'm missing a couple. Ran out of inspiration.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cafeteria Commandments:
1. Thou shalt not talk with thy mouth full.
2. Thou shalt not place thy grubby elbows on the table.
3. Thou shalt not blow bubbles in thy milk.
4. Thou shalt not stick out thy tongue with food stuck thereon.
5. Thou shalt not pretend to vomit.
6. Thou shalt not practice making strings of saliva hang from thy mouth, then suck them back in.
7. Thou shalt not eat mashed potatoes with thy hands, nor shall thou stuff them into thy mouth, in preparation to blow them out, disgusting thy neighbors.
Numbers 8 through 10, Still uncommanded.
11. What a screwy world. The Roy Moore ten commandment 'rock'
just came through Tennessee recently. So, the Ten Commandments are on tour. Just too bizarre.
