Civilians killed in Falluja air strike
Civilians killed in Falluja air strike
Friday 20 August 2004

A US bombing raid on the Iraqi town of Falluja has left five people dead and wounded six, while two US marines have been killed in Anbar province.

A journalist from Falluja, Abu Bakr al-Dulaimi, told Aljazeera on Friday that four Iraqi women were among the wounded when US warplanes bombed a milk factory in the town west of Baghdad in an overnight raid.

US warplanes have bombed the mainly Sunni town almost daily over the past week. Eight people - including women and children - were killed after US forces clashed with resistance fighters last Saturday.

Elsewhere, the Interior Ministry said on Friday that 13 Iraqis were killed and 107 others wounded in the past 24 hours in Baghdad, where US troops have raided the mainly Shia al-Sadr City district.

US forces stormed the mainly Shia suburb of Sadr City in Baghdad on Thursday, calling on al-Mahdi Army fighters to surrender.

2. From bad to worse
What the hell are these raids supposed to accomplish?

We should take all the money we're spending attacking the Iraqis, hire 200,000 Iraqi policemen/soldiers, and pay them well (more than Halliburton employees)

3. Oh, yeah, Faloojah.
That's up North, no West of Baghdad, right? There are
Sunnis there? Oh, that's right, we disbanded their militias,
the "Faloojah Brigade" ...

The al Najaf media coverage has degenerated into complete
gibberish. You can always tell when everybody got caught
flatfooted and is still working up a new line of spin.
