St. Paul launches drive to recall mayor Kelly

Dear Citizens of St. Paul,

Our petition has been finalized and now we are ready to begin collecting signatures. The number of signatures needed is 11,911. Since only registered voters who are residents of Saint Paul may sign, and we expect there to be some margin of error, our goal is to collect 16,000 signatures. Our statement:

We, the undersigned registered voters of Saint Paul, hereby petition for the removal of Randy C. Kelly, who holds the office of Mayor; the grounds for the recall are as follows:

We put our trust in Randy Kelly to act first and foremost for the best interests of the citizens of St. Paul when we elected him mayor of our city.

Randy Kelly has betrayed that trust by taking the power of the non-partisan office of mayor and using it, not to better Saint Paul, but to actively campaign for George W. Bush.

By endorsing Bush, Randy Kelly is supporting policies that damage Saint Paul by cutting funding to housing and public transportation, through un-funded mandates on our schools, and with cuts in programs for police and fire fighters.

4. Excellent!
I had the good pleasure to visit the Twin Cities a few years ago, and St.Paul was especially impressive. I hate to think that that fair city is being run by this shameless shill.

9. I agree Robcon
A graphic designer in West Virginia is fired because he heckled President Bush. People want to remove the mayor of St. Paul because he openly supports President Bush. What happen to free speech?

10. I Don't Think There Is Such A Thing Anymore

As free speech. If you people don't already know, you need to look under REX 84-FEMA in your search engines and find out just what can be suspended regarding your Constitutional rights if Martial Law is ever enforced. It's pretty ugly. Actually, here's a link: http://www.cObalt.com/egg/insane.shtml - read the Executive Orders past the pictures (not sure if that's really what those are or not), but after reading the orders, think about Homeland Security, the Patriot Act and the color-coded alert system. Then, Bush wants to eliminate the police forces and have the military do all the law enforcing?! P.S. You may have to type the link in yourself.

11. He's a DINO, that's what!
He ran as a Dem, and then comes out endorsing a Republican...just like Coleman. The only difference is he hasn't formally switched parties...yet. People are PISSED OFF because St. Paul is a Dem stronghold and people would NEVER have voted for Kelly if they knew his right-wing leanings. Also, he said that he is supporting Bush because it would be a mistake to "switch leaders in the middle of a war". The truth is he cut some sort of deal with Bush and Coleman, both of whom called him shortly before he endorsed.

13. no, it's because of negativity. and because we cannot change leaders.
Ha! For the uninformed, Kelly first justified his move by saying he was sick of the left's negativity and hate, saying an "I HATE BUSH" bumper sticker was the last straw. Apparently, Kelly missed the Washington Post report on Bush's 'unprecedented' negativity. And apparently, he hasn't seen any of the "He's dead, get over it" bumper stickers, "he" referring to Paul Wellstone. Yeah, no hate there.

Since then, he's tried to justify it by saying Bush is better for us. His logic is suspect at best. He lied and said the recession started before Bush. He's praising Bush's economy in a state where unemployment is up 1.1% under Bush, where we've lost 15,000 jobs under Bush.

Better yet, he says that changing our President would confuse our allies. No. It wouldn't. The only allies who would be confused by that are those that do not realize that the US is a democracy. And it'd be pretty damn hard to find an ally that doesn't know that.

I'm not sure if I agree with the recall though.
