2. Oh yeah, Anbar -- the *other* war
Seems US media have forgotten the "original" insurgency, which rages on unabated.

As long as the Iraqi soccer team is winning, it's worth it. :(

8. Military Fatalities:
According to http://icasualties.org/oif/ as of this morning there were 958 deaths in Iraq. Do not know if these 4 have been added. Has anyone else noticed the main news networks and the cable news channels have stopped reporting the total deaths in Iraq? What did Bush tell the Pentagon to tell these folks not to report the deaths? I would like to see all of us at DU email each network and ask why they are not reporting this. Hell we know how many died in Hurricane Charley but I doubt serious that 30% of Americans can come within 100 the total killed in Iraq. I thank you!

10. Why would corporate media make trouble for Boosh?
They live in fear.

And greed. Fear and greed.

So, we must effect who/what they fear, and impact their greed.

Grass roots pressure!

24. When they do report fatalities they break the numbers down
to read - KIA and Non-KIA fatalities. As if there is a fuckin' difference to those killed and their families. Is there some difference in regard to inurance payouts?

11. Corporate media can only ignore this for so long
There's only 38 to go until 1000. When that number hits, they will report it (briefly mind you) but it will be a psychological milestone in this war. I have a hunch that when that number hits, it'll be a little like the Tet Offensive was in '68, in that many Americans who are still on the fence about the war will turn against it. For some reason, there's a big difference in people's mind's between 999 deaths and 1000.

12. Meanwhile, the whores get ready for the RNC convention
as our children die in Iraq for nothing.
4 more children dead for
nothing.

15. I don't know
about the 'children' comment.

It seems like to me the average age of the KIAs in this war is pretty high, maybe higher than any other war in U.S. history. Every now and then a veritable "geezer" from the National Guard gets killed.

In a metaphorical sense, all our soldiers are children of God being sacrificed to Molech.

17. To me, 18, 19, 20, 21 is a child
with so many that age dying, and my stepson being 21 and over there, many of them are kids who have barely started their lives as adults..
even the older guys are kids of some mother..
and none of them had to die..not one.

23. Yes. To me they are children too
18, 19, 20, barely out of high school, lives just beginning, it is so damned sad that this country won't demand that Bush be impeached, run the sob out on a rail.

HOW in the hell can Smirk have half the votes? How?

13. We need to make sure that 1000 dead is not forgotten
It's probably here now, but, when we officialy hit 1000, we can't let it go.
Letters to the editor, as well as call in comments need to be generated every day. I mean every day long and loud, Saddam Hussein was not worth 1000+ American dead and the billions of dollars spent on this misadventure.
Nor is he worth the ill will we have garnered throughout the world.

21. "Saddam Hussein was not worth 1000+ American dead" = TRUE!
None of the reasons/ excuses for invading Iraq have panned out;

Even the cheaper oil argument has proven to be bogus.

Bring the Troops Home NOW!

18. 19 this past week ... and now 4 more!
I am so sad for the families.

And yes they are somebody's child, but with so many reservists there, many recently have been men with children who now don't have a dad or mom!

I'm convinced there is enough evidence to sue the media for ---- something! At least racketeering and fraud. Or the other route and revoke their public airways rights.

22. I had the occasion to
ask my sister yesterday, who thought * was on the right track a year ago, if she felt any safer now that 950+ servicemen were dead and Saddam was in prison.
She really couldn't answer.....
