Democrats Urged to Vote the 'Big D'
Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register

ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Belmont County's Democratic leaders urged fellow Democrats Sunday to vote a straight ticket this November.

"We have to vote the 'Big D' this year, because this time we have a cause," said County Party Chairman James Tekely. "If we do, John Kerry will win.

"Working people have to get hustling to get Kerry in there," he said. ..

"It's a 'no-brainer' to vote nothing but a straight Democratic ticket this year," said County Commissioner Mark Thomas. "Things are going to be even better in Belmont County and Ohio if we do."

1. VOTE STRAIGHT DEM!!! From dog-catcher on up!!!
Howard Dean has the right idea- we need to build the party up from the grwass-roots up.

Every dog-catcher, coroner, sheriff, councilman, alderman and State-rep needs a capital "D" behind their name this fall!!!!

DO IT!!!

4. the day i turned on the radio and heard
a news station (not a hate station, or so they claim) turning the Clinton witch hunt into an entertainment bit, with an actress reading the Monica Lewinsky depositions in an extreme valley girl voice while cliched porno music played in the background, i vowed to never never vote reThug again, never have, never will.

5. Belmont County, Ohio
Edited on Mon Aug-23-04 12:18 AM by ArnoldLayne
was where I was born and raised. I now live about 3 miles across the Ohio River in Wheeling WV. It is a heavily Democratic County with about a 3 to 1 Ratio of Dems.to Repubs. Three of my sisters, brothers in law and many of my nephews and nieces live there I am going to urge them to vote a straight Democratic ticket which I have an idea from talking politics with that they will do anyways. Also alot of my co-workers that work in the Wheeling-Pittsburg Steel Mill with me reside in Belmont Co. so I guess I'll have to have a little discussion with them also on voting a straight Dem. ticket. :dem: :dem: :kick: :kick:

7. This is never a good idea
A vote for the person and their ideas is always better than a blind party ticket. Never let the party feel they own your vote...it just emboldens them to take advantage of you.

12. Saying all Republicans are bad is the same as saying
all Democrats are good. Not a good choice. Very few here would call Abe Lincoln bad or would call Zell Miller good.

I can't relate to your extreme voting habits.

24. Abe Lincoln ran long ago
there are no repukes who are like Lincoln in the repuke party anymore, they became Democrats. If I am faced with voting for a "Democrat" like Zig Zag Miller or a repuklican I will leave the space blank, no repuke will ever get my vote. x(

If Zell was running again, does that mean voting for him? Of course not! This is nonsense!

America has survived 200+ years of divided votes without a revolution. Why start now?

27. Because there will NOT BE AN America LEFT to vote for!
We lost the right to vote once in 2000 and had our President appointed by the Supreme Court. If we have it taken away again, or if the R's ,who masterminded the fraud, reappoint themselves, this Nation and the Constitution are kaput! This is a vote on whether there will continue to be an United States of America. We should have done something in 2000. If the right to vote isn't worth fighting for, I can't imagine what is. The revolution of 1776 dealt with this exact issue. And BTW, in 200 years we did have the Civil War, which is exactly what would happen if we had what people would now call a revolution.Your premise is flawed.

14. I would vote
Edited on Mon Aug-23-04 01:17 AM by fujiyama
straight dem for all federal offices (Pres, House, Sen).

In local offices I'd probably vote for that candidate which is best for the job -- most likely that'd be a dem, however many of these offices are non partisan so in many cases it doesn't matter. If there were a green or independant that would suit my views I would consider voting for them though (but first I'd try to find out that they'd have a chance...I wouldn't want to vote for a spoiler).

28. ever since Vietnam I have equated repukes with warmongers
--in 1968, when I first started voting, repukes were largely the "hawks" and Democrats the "doves"--I have voted Big D ever since. There has always been something suspect about Rs in my mind--something to do with lying, greed, and thirst for blood.

30. I'm not a yellow dog Dem
Never voted a straight party ticket, just haven't, never will. I base my votes on the candidate first and their political party second.

...Thing is, so far it looks like I WILL be voting a straight ticket this year, completely by coincidence. Georgie has a hand in that of course, but not nearly as much as you'd think.

31. My grandfather explained to me long ago that he couldn't
AFFORD to be an independent. He advised me to always vote a straight Democratic ticket, and in the 34 years I've been voting, I've never seen a Republican candidate that even tempted me.

Party discipline builds party strength. Party strength builds political strength and allows our representatives to tell * and those like him to go FUCK THEMSELVES when they try to put the pressure on to rob jobs, money and lives from ordinary Americans.

Yella dog? You bet.
