It's a Nice Place to Visit, but He Can't Stay(Bush the coward, part 984)
CRAWFORD, Tex. More than a year ago, when Karl Rove and President Bush began planning the Republican National Convention, they picked New York City in early September so that the event would flow into the third anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks.

Some Republicans said then that Mr. Bush might even visit ground zero, despite the risk of appearing to make political use of the tragedy. Most others said the convention's timing would remind voters of what the campaign considers Mr. Bush's finest hour - the moment he grabbed the bullhorn in the rubble at the tip of Manhattan and shouted that the people who had knocked down the buildings would hear from him soon.

But now it turns out that Mr. Bush may not spend a single night in the city that helped transform his presidency. At this point, the unofficial plan is for him to arrive in Manhattan sometime on Thursday, Sept. 2, the final day of the four-day convention, deliver his acceptance speech that night, then leave immediately for Pennsylvania.

I'll bet he videotapes his acceptance speech. That way they can edit it before showing to the true belivers.

36. no show
like "No Show" right after the planes hit when like a "Wrong Way Corrigan" he took off w. instead of back to his Job in Washington. Just like Cheney when "he was literally picked up OFF his feet and rushed to the bowels of the building" and NO way could he resist those big brutes.

.. no lie. It's supposedly some sort of enclosure, see-thru, 9 feet above the normal stage.. but totally surrounded by blast and bullet proof glass or something... just a little hamster tunnel to walk thru. I think the man is drowning in paranoia.. now he's afraid of his own fucking delegates???? That's just sick!!

Just quote the above poster anonomously and preface the comment by "some people are saying..." And while you're at it, add some shit of your own. Hell I would like to add that the thing is practically invisible! If you don't see on TV it's PROOF that it IS THERE!!

Rather than dismiss you as a rude butthead for your comments.. I'll choose to believe you were skewering Michelle Malkin, not me.. certainly not ME, as I have been here at DU since early 2001 and have 5,000 posts.. I KNOW I'm not being treated as a liar or distruptor.

27. Rude Butthead would be one of the kinder names hurled in my direction
but in this case it is unfounded. The "Have you learned nothing" comment was rhetorical, and directed more at the right-wing "braintrust" in general rather than to malkin specifically, although she is the latest shining example of this "tactic".

As an under 2,000 poster, I defer to your unDUniable greatness.

Peace and thanks for the link

24. Too funny, FOB!
You don't even have to append "some people are saying". Typical whacko thing anymore is just to throw something out there as if it's from God's mouth to their ear.

An acquaintance told me last week, "Bush has a 160 IQ." This person has a Phd. Goes to show... whacko-ness is no respecter of education.

After visiting 32 other states and Poland, Shrub finally visited America's largest city. According to the NY Times, "Mr. Bush expressed something short of pure delight at being back in the state that he lost by nearly 25 percentage points last November and that his advisers view as politically out of reach for 2004. 'How do you like New York, Mr. President?' a reporter asked Mr. Bush as he posed for a photograph with a small cluster of Democrats and Republicans in front of New York Harbor... 'It's a beautiful day,' Mr. Bush responded tersely...

41. Interestingly, they laid a commorative cornerstone at Ground Zero..
a view weeks ago, in a very low key affair. I think Pataki was there, but it wasn't made into a huge political event. Wonder why....

I don't think Bush would dare show up at the 9/11 ceremonies this year. The ceremony is being dedicated to the parents/spouses of the
victims, and they will be the people in attendance, reading the names of the murdered.Given the reaction of many of the families to the 9-11 report, I don't think Mr. Bush would get too many positive photo ops, the way he did when he visited the site when the last piece of debris was removed.
