Cheney protesters arrive early, (some) leave early due to rainstorm

Although Cheney was not scheduled to arrive until noon, dozens of Sierra Club members, union workers and Scott County Democratic Party volunteers marched down to the entrance of the hotel about 8:30 a.m., shouting slogans and carrying signs deriding the Bush-Cheney administration. By 10:30 a.m., the numbers had shrunk, but the rhetoric had ratcheted up.

“This is the worst environmental administration we’ve ever had,” said Jerry Neff of Pleasant Valley, a spokesman for the Eagle View Sierra Club. “I think it’s important for us to be here to raise awareness of their environmental record.” ..

“I feel sorry for them,” Sylvia Barr of New Liberty, Iowa, said. “They need to get enlightened.”

I know Iowa is a swing state, but the quad city area has lots of strong democrats.

I am glad some of them showed up to give him hell. I can't wait to hear which of my friends from the 17 District were there.

Unfortunately, every time these self-appointed zealots of enlightenment got control, good people burned, were turtured and bludgeoned in the name of Christian Enlightenment.

As is often the case with followers of Totalitarianism, this woman, likely yearning for the Dark Ages of Religio-political control says the opposite of what she means.
