Green Party candidate won't challenge Hooley (No Dem 'spoiler') Ore
Associated Press

The Green Party candidate who was opposing incumbent Democratic Congresswoman Darlene Hooley has dropped out of the race, saying he does not want to be a "spoiler."

Mitch Besser told The Statesman-Journal in Salem that he wants to provide some breathing room for Hooley, who is locked in a tight race with Lake Oswego Republican Jim Zupancic.

"My race wasn't about winning," said Besser, a Lake Oswego software engineer. "It was about raising issues," ..

The Oregon's Green Party stresses environmental, peace and social justice positions. ..

Besser's decision leaves two third-party candidates in the race on the right, but none on the left. Libertarian Jerry DeFoe of Salem and Constitution Party member Joseph Bitz of Mulino have filed to run against Hooley and Zupancic.

1. Good for you Mitch!!!! Go Darlene.
Oswego has a lot of muscle and money and hopefully enough Dems go get the seat.

4. Good news
Darlene Hooley is moderate/conservative, but it's one more vote for the Dems in the House.

Zupancic will giver her a tough race as it is, thanks to all the Lars Larson sycophants in her district.

5. Mitch Besser, what an honourable man
In our world of slime, that was a truly chivalrous act towards his
true constituency.

It is indeed sad that such honourable service misses the critical
nader jokers who seem bent on a second bush presidency so he can
polish his ego on his way to hell.

That said, Mr. Besser is 10,000 times the man of Nader and i hope
to hear more of him in politics future.
