Janet Jackson Says Bush Used Her (breast) As Distraction
NBC (AP)

Singer Janet Jackson is accusing President Bush of using her breast to distract the country from the war in Iraq.

She told Genre magazine that her "wardrobe malfunction" at the Super Bowl was "the perfect vehicle" to take the country's mind off what's happening in Iraq. ..

She said commercials for beer and Viagra are more sexual.

21. Why is she an idiot?
Why all the hostility towards Jackson? Others have expressed the same belief. It was shocking to see how much time was spent on that incident, time that could have been used to discuss issues that were really important.

Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 03:49 AM by Born Free
I'll prefer looking at Janet Jackson any time over looking at bush, so yes it that way it is a distraction for me... actually I prefer hearing her over bush as well...damn I would prefer her as president over the coward bush,

3. And she is right!
For me to see Bob Dole watch Britney Spears in a pedophile kind of way ( the Pepsi commercial) was highly indecent. No one complained. I thought it was gross. But who is counting how gross those republicans hacks are?

4. And she's correct.
I mean, how big a problem IS erectile disfunction in our country. If the ubiquity of ED drug adds is any indication, this is the limpest country in the universe.

Also, if you can't get some inspiration from Levitra woman, you really do have a problem. Hubba, hubba!!

LOL.

Janet shouldn't take all the credit, it was also the Laci Peterson case, the Kobe Bryant case, etc.

It's a pattern of distraction, and it can't be denied.

but she is right. If nothing was said about it few people would have even noticed. It wasn't a big thing (no pun intended). Try and explain erectile dysfunction to an 8 yr old though!

10. Yeah, well.
One of the BBV activists, Ellen Theisen (check out her site at www.votersunite) was saying that she wishes when voting machines fail, they wouldn't call it a "glitch." She said that minimizes what's happened; said it's really a "malfunction."

I said, "Well, when you say 'malfunction,' people will associate it with Janet Jackson's 'wardrobe malfunction.'"

She laughed and said, "No. THAT was a glitch!"

12. Heaven forbid ...
... that the fans of a 'sport' that institutionalizes a form of violence should be distracted by a teat that's common among all mammals!

It's really incredible how insane people reacted to a couple of seconds of bared breast in the context of a game that glorifies mayhem - and the escape therefrom. Over 99% of the people who "saw" her teat saw it on replay or enhanced photographs than during the live show. (Hell, I was watching in a somewhat desultory fashion and couldn't have cared less.)

It's exactly like the woman who complained about the obscene phone call -- it just went on, and on, and on, and on ... :eyes: (Unfreakingreal!)

FWIW, while not a rabid fan, I tend to like watching football -- even though attractive women are even easier on my eyes.

stop looking at it through that telescope.

Too logical--doesn't permit morality police to get all outraged.

33. You got it.
So, we got to observe the media TITillate the "news-hungry" audience ... vast numbers of which were offended the 1st time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 2nd time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 3rd time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 4th time they watched it ... and (after calling other family members in) were offended the 10th time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 11th time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 12th time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 13th time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 14th time they watched it .... and (after calling the neighbors in) were offended the 21st time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 22nd time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 23rd time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 24th time they watched it and (after channel surfing) ... ... ... and (after calling a meeting of the local chapter of Holier Than Thou Inc.) were offended the 61st time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 62nd time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 63rd time they watched it and (after channel surfing) were offended the 64th time they watched it and (after channel surfing) ... etc.

The next day, they had copies of the newspaper to distribute to 'offended' people on street corners, Internet photos to send to their 'offended' friends in other trailer parks, printouts taped to their 'offended' walls ...

The next week, they bought the news magazines to refresh their failing memories of how offended they were.

:eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes:

I just have one question ...

How many of the people who 'saw' the offending teat
(and were outraged, of course)
could even name the teams that played in the Super Bowl,
let alone who won????

believe she feels it's all about herself. She believes too much was made of the incident and that it was used to divert attention from other problems. I've heard other people express the same opinion.

27. I agree with her and have talked about the 4 hour erection ad for months
Edited on Tue Aug-24-04 08:09 PM by wishlist
She is the first person I have heard to state in public that the erectile enhancing commercials should be considered as offensive as her nipple showing for half a second, although I have mentioned that several times since her incident happened. It amazes me that commercials promoting sexual arousal and having erections such as that one where men are advised to seek medical attention if they have an erection lasting over 4 hours, are considered appropriate but such a big deal was made of Janet's nipple and then Whoopi's Bushy comments...

34. Breast exposed by a white woman at the Olympics - where is the outrage?
Edited on Tue Aug-24-04 10:43 PM by Democat
Will the FCC being issuing fines to the networks showing the olympics for this:

Italy's Alexandra Araujo (L) exposes Kazakhstan's Tatyana Gubina's breast as they fight for position during their women's preliminary water polo match at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games (news - web sites), August 20, 2004. REUTERS/Laszlo Balogh

story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/040820/ids_photos_sp/r1137269029.jpg

Of couse, this was a white woman who isn't a known liberal, so the right wing will probably have nothing to say the FCC will be silent about it.

Hypocrisy?
