Calif. approves e-voting in 11 counties; four no go
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters)

California will allow voting at electronic voting machines in November at all but four counties, after an improvement in security measures, the state's top election official said Tuesday.

In April, California Secretary of State Kevin Shelley blasted the state's largest e-voting machine supplier, Diebold, and called for a criminal investigation into the Ohio-based firm.

The Democrat decertified Diebold's AcuVote-TSx Voting System — which was used in four counties and accounts for a third of all of California's electronic voting machines — because of problems in the March election.

He gave 11 other counties the chance to recertify their electronic voting machines if they upgraded their systems to provide a paper receipt for voters and meet other conditions. ..

In April, Shelley said that Diebold had engaged in "reprehensible" and deceitful tactics and asked the state attorney general's office to launch a probe. A spokeswoman for that office said the investigation was underway and was scheduled to be completed by Sept. 6.

1. Well, this explains why...
the polls appear to show a "close" race, instead of the stomping we all know is really taking place. You got to make it close to steal it.

2. In NC
We use computerized counters of cards where you draw a line between two arrows to vote for your candidate. I like that because there is a paper trail. I do not trust computers to do this job alone.

4. What can we do if we live in California?

I am just looking at the CSPAN program with People For The American Way. They are talking about having the NAACP monitors, lawyers etc.monitor the election.

Ralph Nees(spelling) and Julian Bond said thy will need lots of monitors.

They said the Hotline # is 866 our vote.....

Julian Bond mentioned the case that happened recently in Florida. The issue that involved the elderly African Americans that were helping to register voters. Law enforcement came into their homes to intimidate them and scare them!

For November,People for the American Way, will focus on the states that have had problems in the past. That would probably not be California.

These bastards are going to try every date with their computers and dirty tricks.

This is a war and we are soldiers.
Where do we report for duty?

8. Vote absente
I'm trying to get my parent to do that. They live in Kern County and they have touch screen. I'm not sure if we have it in this part of LA County or not.

5. I've been thinking about this and
I try not to but it's really scary. I've thought for awhile now that they were going to steal California. They will, that's the dark reality here. Maryland also has the e-voting in every county. Maryland will be stolen too. Florida could be 100% democratic and still be lost. Ohio has e-voting in almost every county as well. It's the dark reality here, it's gonna be stolen again and the only thing we can do about it is by having pretty much half the country protest in D.C. in front of the White House itself. Malloy mentioned this and it looks like were going to have to. We cant really do anything about them stealing it, thats another dark reality. But we can force them out if we just rise. I hear alot of "Ill just stick it out another four years and keep fighting the good fight." Again people, another dark reality is it will be too late by the time Bush's second term is up. By us sitting here and "sticking it out" for another four years is only gonna make things worse, that's exactly what they want. For us to sit here and take it. So they can pursue their neonazi agenda. Stick it out is the stupidest thing Ive heard anyone say when asked what they would do if Bush wins. Well Bush is gonna win, and sticking it out isnt gonna help anything. I think we need to start organizing a national protest right this second.

Looks like the fix IS in and Shelley isn't quite the hero he seemed to be once upon a time. Wonder what/who got to him?

10. What a coincidence! Just this past week Shelley was hit by a scandal!!
Involving the illegal actions of one of his major campaign contributors from some time ago. The allegations came just as he was weighing his decision on the Deibold e-voting issue. Gee - I guess he saw the light!

13. I've thought they were going to steal CA for a long time
That's all they have to do. Shelly folds because they blackmail him. Are there no patriots left? It's up to the media now. They could stop this if they wanted to.
