ATHENS (Reuters) - Olympic officials are seething at a campaign ad for President Bush (news - web sites) which, they say, hijacks the Olympic brand.

1. Good!
The ad should be pulled from the air and Bush shamed.

2. He can do NOTIHING right.

He is not a well-liked individual.

His base is what? Out of the world population? He is destroying our credibility, and subsequently making us appear vulnerable, which makes us less safe.

3. from the link
"But while Heiberg was diplomatic, other IOC (news - web sites) members were blunt.

"This is quite amazing," one member said on condition of anonymity. "The arrogance is unbelievable. To use the Olympic name like this, without permission... it's just incredible."

Another said: "That anyone should do this is just astonishing."

If I remember prior events correctly, messing with Olympic trademarks has always been a bad idea.

Interesting how the Bush* team just doesn't care.

6. If I...
were the IOC I'd put out an ad condemning those ads and state that the Olympic does not endorse any political party or presidential candidate and that the Bush campaign is illegally violating trademarks and patents laws. And even counter it by suing the Bush campaign.

7. Local Bush-puke radio guy was whining about the NBC coverage of
the Olympics (after he returned from vacation in Tahoe, of course):

He was talking about how "the Americans got a tremendous ovation" (funny, I watched that to see if they were booed - Europe had class - they didn't boo, but France had just as big an ovation!) and yet the NBC announcers had to say "The Greeks are able to seperate Politics from Athletics."

Funny, I thought that the whole situation was handled pretty well.

Of course, this guy had heard it second-(third?)hand from the other Rush wannabes at the station, so you know it had to go through the transformer . . .

8. They ARE taking action!
Yay!
"It is the U.S. Olympic Committee's responsibility to protect the Olympic brand in the United States and Heiberg said they were taking steps to do so. "

You'd think Bush would have at least stopped attacking the Iraqi people during the games. But, no. He had to go and capitalize on the Olympics' good name.

The man knows no shame.

13. "Olympic hijack - desperate warmonger is blamed"
I'd have said 'claims responsibility', but Bush doesn't know the meaning of the word.
