Bawdy play deemed unsuitable for Republican visitors
NEW YORK (AP)

.. The city's tourist bureau has pulled an off-Broadway show called ``Naked Boys Singing'' from a list of discounted offerings to visiting delegates, after the Republican National Committee complained it wasn't suitable.

The gay-themed show, billed as a musical revue that ``celebrates the splendors of male nudity in comedy, song and dance,'' has received generally good reviews and hasn't created much of a stir since it began its run six years ago. Its 2,127 performances make it the 10th longest-running off-Broadway show. ..

The show's producer, Carl White, said the RNC's decision to drop the show runs counter to the reasons Republicans chose New York to host the convention in the first place.

``It's very disappointing to us,'' said White. ``They say they picked us because of our equality, our diversity, our culture.''

In fact, before the show was removed from the site, about a dozen people presumably delegates had purchased tickets using the special code offered on the Web site. Those tickets will be honored. ..

2. Runs counter to the reasons they chose New York??????
It sounds like they should have used Disney World for a week. The fact that they can't deal with anything that isn't beyond the pious level of community theater and bible tent revivals says a lot about those folks.

Good gawd, who are these people? Do they wear signs in real life? Can I manage to avoid them?

7. Uhmmmm, no Disney World does not fit in with the neo-con....
...idea of family values. After all, it is a well known fact that every year Disney World has alternating Gay-Days at all four of their Orlando Theme Parks. Still, for the other 361 days, republicans have the run of the place, but it just isn't right. You know!

3. What, you mean even log-cabin republicans should not go to see...
..."Naked Boys Singing". In the picture they all look like young republicans who attend Bob Jones University.

6. Typical Republican response. . .
Can't let the individual make decisions for himself, so the decision must be made for him, proving yet again (as if further proof is necessary) that the Republican Party's vaunted celebration of individual responsibility is nothing but a hypocritical crock.

9. You don't understand the depths of the Republican mindset
Their nature is to be offended by *other* people going to see a play titled naked boys singing.

That's how Republicans think. They don't want *anybody* to have any fun.

10. Well, it's not like none of the delegates are going to go
They just won't get discounted tickets. You damn betcha the place will be packed. But you won't be able to recognize any of the patrons streaming out afterwards, because they'll be holding their delegate badges up in front of their faces.

14. Doesn't surprise me
The RNC does NOT want pictures of any delegates attending a gay-themed show in the middle of their anti-homosexual hoopla.

The most appropriate stage show for republican supporters of George W. Bush to see is the great Australian "Puppetry of the Penis", now showing in Chicago.

Now thats good Christian Family Values.
