US admits 'bounty hunter' contact
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/3601030.stm

The US Department of Defense has admitted that a senior official did have contact with a former American soldier facing torture charges.

But the Department says it rejected Jack Idema's offer to work for them in Afghanistan, where he is under arrest.

A Pentagon official said its Acting Director of Security, Heather Anderson, had spoken to Jack Idema this year.
...
If they had rebuffed him, he asked, why did they keep taking his phone calls?

4. Expect an under the table deal eventually
Assuming they did hire him, the U.S. military or CIA will probably try to spring him after a while, i.e. make a deal after the sentencing. It is true that they deny accountability, but I would think they would want to send some reassurance to the "mercenary community", that they will be looked after. Isn't that what Falluja was all about?
