Bush attacks Kerry on Cuba policy
MIAMI (AFP)

Bush accused Kerry of voting against a law known as Helms-Burton, which tightened the US embargo against the island, while claiming to have voted for it.

"To clear things up, his campaign said that while he did vote against final passages, he had voted for it more earlier," Bush said at a campaign stop here. ..

Kerry has argued for what he calls "principled travel" to Cuba, and supported a Senate bill that would have ended the travel embargo.

Bush on July 1 imposed new restrictions cutting visits and money remittances to the island -- a highly unpopular move among Cuban- Americans.

"When the president's proposals take effect, the misery of the Cuban people, not of Castro, is sure to rise," Kerry said in a June statement.

"Instead, we should promote the interchanges of ideas that will begin now to lay the foundations for economic prosperity and an independent civil society that I believe are so critical to peace and democracy."

"Cuban-American families are the most positive force for change in Cuba today. Why limit their freedom to press for change?" Kerry said. ..

3. Unfortunately Kerry has flip-flopped on Cuba policy!!
Before he was a candidate he favored Americans traveling to Cuba. Now he says he favors "principled travel" which is a bull-shit way of saying NO Americans, just Miami Cuban-Americans and their families.

Kucinich and Al Sharpton were the only candidates with the guts to say -- end the embargo and travel ban!

10. With us or agin us?
"Then vote against him and embrace 4 more years of hell!!!"

That is the only choice? Get real.

Why can't we, the membership of the Democratic MAJORITY as well as the overall MAJORITY of Americans and their reps, demand a change in policy from our party (or from both parties for that matter)? Its what we want. Why do we have to settle for the pandering to the most extreme elements of the Miamicubano anti Castro terror organizations (the stark minority)?

What the F is it that the Dems and many DUers don't understand about the word MAJORITY.

5. Why limit their freedom? How about OUR freedom?
OUR constitutional rights are being infringed upon, even by Kerry's "principled" travel (whatever the F that means).

Kerry's stated policy on Cuba:
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/8848574.htm
  • Under a Kerry administration Cuba will remain under US sanctions
  • Under a Kerry administration we will still be travel banned unless our travel is deemed politically worthy by US gov jackboots

Mr Kerry, Tear down the wall of ignorance and hate!

    8. Yeah. Right. I'm not going to hold my breath.
The betrayal by the Dem party is all too real, regarding sane Cuba policy.

Telling me "he will" isn't good enough. The MAJORITY of Americans want to end the standoff put up by the US government. Cuban-Americans too.

Why does Kerry pander to the stark minority of radical Miamicuban extremists?

Kerry should stand up and say that he will engage in what the majority of Americans want - sane Cuba policy - why can't he? What the F doesn't the Dem party understand about the word MAJORITY?

    Jesus Marion Joseph!!!!!!!

First of All, what an idiot. Second of all. Yeah, that Embargo seems to be working REALLY REALLY well. You can tell by the complete lack of Communism in Cuba.

    11. When Kerry wins, let's make a principled trip to Havana's nightclubs
to celebrate. It's just that I fear Kerry's approach to Castro and Chavez won't be much different from *'s.

I hope that I'm proved completely wrong in six months or less.
