CANADIAN PRESS

OTTAWA — Federal officials are investigating whether a suspected Israeli spy is travelling in Asia on a stolen Canadian passport.

Foreign Affairs spokesman Reynald Doiron said agencies are checking allegations that Zev William Barkan — embroiled in a New Zealand espionage caper — is using a Canadian passport issued under the name Kevin William Hunter.

Diplomatic inquiries, intelligence liaison and police investigation might soon provide answers, Doiron said today. "All of that being put together, we should have a clearer picture."

It is the latest twist in a spy scandal that has rocked New Zealand.

The 37-year-old Barkan, a suspected member of the Israeli Mossad, is wanted by police for allegedly trying to help illegally obtain a New Zealand passport.

The mental evaluation was ordered after Assistant Prosecutor Judy Gagliano listed a series of what she called "bizarre" statements attributed to Miller, including that he was a CIA operative and that a tenant has al-Qaida ties and would blow up public buildings, including the courthouse where the hearing took place.

Miller, who was arrested at his home in Livingston, remained in custody on $500,000 bail.

Miller told the New York Post and Daily News, as well as WCBS-TV in New York, that he had an affair with Golan Cipel, a former homeland-security adviser to the governor.

You're one of those morons that deliberately tries to bring anti-semitism into a discussion about a serious issue.

Israeli agents are abusing the passport system to assassinate people.

That's a fact.

They want New Zealand and Canadian passports to get into Arab countries easily.

And then mock outrage is expressed when New Zealand finally has the guts to call a spade a spade and kicks Israel in the nuts.

Screw Israel in this matter.

20. Nah, no anti-semitism here, dear. Evidence????
BTW, who here expressed "mock outrage"?

I don't get all shocked when I hear that nations have spies. Or that the spies conduct "black ops."

BTW, how many Arab nations have arrested and tried the organizers of suicide bombings? I'll make it easier: how many organizers of terror attacks on Israel have been brought to trial in ANY nation but Israel?

Get back to me, you intelligent creature, you.

26. You're a complete moron
What do arab nations' involvement with suicide bombings have to do with Irael's theft and misuse of Canadian and New Zealand passports?

It's as you think suicide bombings excuse Israeli spies stealing the identities of Canadian and New Zealand citizens to kill people.

You're ethically challenged.

You're also a moron.

5. As any good spy organization certainly is!
Israel has the manpower out there, it just seems that they're getting caught far too often. Something is wrong here if you ask me. I'm not sure right now, but it's odd that so many domestic spies in "Friendly" countries are being caught.

This all goes to show that Sharon and his government will stop at nothing to achieve all their goals. They are nearly as bad as BushCo and I hope the people of Israel will have the sense to vote them out next elections.

6. Yes, fleas that need to be outed, arrested, tried, and imprisoned,
for betraying THIS nation. The culpability of this neonazicon bunch, with regards to the lies prefacing the Iraq invasion, SHOULD, lead to the arrests of Wolfowitz, Feith, Bolton, Abrams, Perle, Libby, Wurmser, and a host of others, on charges of treason. In addition, they are also war criminals, who, along with Sharon, Rumsfeld, and several others, should face trial for crimes against humanity.

But we can't forget, Bush KNEW, and approved of their work, as it dovetailed with his (Cheney's) own political ("war president") plans. Add in the oil mafia, and the "Helliburtons", and you've got more than a little pressure to invade. Still, it was the neocons that provided the phony pretexts. And of course, we should not forget PNAC, AIPAC, JINSA, and the fact that most of this bunch worked directly for the Likud at one time or another, over the last ten years.

Joyous last days ease pain for widowed bride
By Andrew Stevenson and AAP
September 30 2002

Happened in New Zealand:

...Then, on Thursday, unimaginable heartbreak: Mr Le Gallo was among six people killed in a plane crash on Hamilton Island, leaving his bride to relive their final days together with a mixture of heartache and happiness.

The Le Gallos, both counter-terrorism experts with a US security firm, had been married for less than a week.

...snip...

Mr Le Gallo and five others died when a Piper Cherokee crashed soon after take-off on Thursday night.

Mrs Le Gallo also confirmed that she and her husband had travelled separately so that the Bowles family, Kevin and Joanne and their children Sophie and Michael, could travel together. The family and the pilot were also killed in the crash.

...snip...

SAIC, the US security and engineering firm the Le Gallos worked for, has contracts with the FBI. Mrs Le Gallo recently gave a paper at a conference on nuclear, biological and chemical security.

Mr Le Gallo's father, who flew to the island on Saturday, is a former CIA operative....cont'd

FBI Probe Targets Pentagon Official
Analyst Allegedly Gave Data to Israel

By Bradley Graham and Thomas E. Ricks
Washington Post Staff Writers
Saturday, August 28, 2004; Page A01

The FBI is investigating a mid-level Pentagon official who specializes in Iranian affairs for allegedly passing classified information to Israel, and arrests in the case could come as early as next week, officials at the Pentagon and other government agencies said last night.

The name of the person under investigation was not officially released, but two sources identified him as Larry Franklin. He was described as a desk officer in the Pentagon's Near East and South Asia Bureau, one of six regional policy sections. Franklin worked at the Defense Intelligence Agency before moving to the Pentagon's policy branch three years ago and is nearing retirement, the officials said. Franklin could not be located for comment last night.
This guy just wasnt riding a desk, he was NEGOTIATING with Iranians per Sydney Morning Herald. How many of our problems are manufactured in Tel Aviv?? First, DUMP BUSH and his zionist-filled defense cable

Sydney Morning Herald entitled "Arms Dealers in Talks with US Officials about Iran." The SMH dispatch reported the claim that "Administration officials said at least two Pentagon officials working for the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, Douglas Feith, have held "several" meetings with Manucher Ghorbanifar, the Iranian middleman in United States arms-for-hostage shipments to Iran in the mid-1980s." Along the same lines, a "senior Administration official identified two of the Defense officials who met Mr Ghorbanifar as Harold Rhode, Mr Feith's top Middle East specialist, and Larry Franklin, a Defence Intelligence Agency analyst on loan to the undersecretary's office."

This BULLSH*T has been going on for years. All the while we PAY for it by giving Israel 2.5% of their GDP every year, fully 1/3 of our foreign aid budget. Then we sprinkle on top some UN vetoes for good flava and the enmity of the world and Osama Bin Laden:

Israel

As al-Qaeda grew out of the Afghan mujahedin in the late 1980s, differences developed between bin Laden and Abdullah Azzam, the co-founder of Maktab al Khidmat (Afghan Services Bureau), an al-Qaeda precursor. Azzam, a Palestinian, favored focusing future operations against Israel, while bin Laden viewed Israel as a secondary enemy behind America, seeing the latter as the "head of the snake."

Pentagon lambasted by ADL for doubting Jews' U.S. loyalty

MATTHEW DORF
Jewish Telegraphic Agency

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Under fire from the Anti-Defamation League, the Department of Defense has repudiated a memo by its security agency warning government contractors that "strong ethnic ties" to American Jews allow Israel to steal military and industrial secrets "aggressively."

A low-level field official in upstate New York issued a confidential memo to defense contractors in October putting them on alert for Israeli espionage.

"The strong ethnic ties to Israel present in the U.S., coupled with aggressive and extremely competent intelligence personnel, has resulted in a very productive collection effort," the three-page memo states.

After the memo's existence was first reported in the February issue of the Jewish monthly magazine Moment, the Defense Department went public with its disdain for the memo.

"I want to stress that the content of this document does not reflect the official position of the Department of Defense," Assistant Secretary of Defense Emmett Paige Jr. wrote to Abraham Foxman, the ADL's national director.

"While we object to the document in general, singling out ethnicity as a matter of counterintelligence vulnerability is particularly repugnant to the department," he wrote.

The department stopped distribution of the memo in December and, as a result of the public outcry, has "canceled" the memo.

In a letter to the department, Foxman had chastised it for singling out Israel and its strong ethnic ties in the United States.

"This is a distressing charge which impugns American Jews and borders on anti-Semitism," Foxman wrote.

"In addition, we are disturbed by the general tenor of the memorandum considering the fact that Israel is America's longtime ally, considering the fact that only five years ago Israel refrained from taking military steps against Iraq despite Scud missile attacks because its U.S. ally asked for restraint."

Foxman called the department's response "the beginning, but not the answer."

"To issue a blip that the memo was canceled doesn't mean anything" unless there is a new memo sent detailing the department's policy, Foxman said.

AIPAC is on the Fortune 25 list as the 4th largest PAC. But in fact, it is not a politcal action comimitee at all. "PAC" stand for 'Public Affairs Commitee" and they have used legal strucutres to avoid transparency that is required of such institutions. It is an absolute travesty:
The late Barney Barnett had set up the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC, the highly effective pro-Israel lobby. Barnett advised setting up the Foundation's PAC and its lobbying arm as separate entities. Fortune lists AIPAC as the 4th largest and most influential PAC in the country, yet this group has crafted a way to keep all their finances and activities completely hidden from public view! How can that be acceptable?!
