Republicans given a hostile reception by New York protesters
Tens of thousands of demonstrators chanting slogans against President George W Bush poured on to the streets of New York yesterday in a hostile reception for Republican delegates arriving for the party's convention.

Columns of marchers paraded past Madison Square Garden, the convention venue, to vent their rage at the visitors, disparaged by some marchers as "aliens" who should have stayed at home.

Michael Moore, who made the anti-Bush film Fahrenheit 9/11, set the tone for the demonstration by telling the crowd that Mr Bush failed to win legitimacy in the disputed 2000 election.

"The majority never voted for the Bush administration and it's time to have our country back in our hands," he said to cheers.

"We owe the people of Iraq a huge apology for creating the amount of death and destruction we created there."

7. Because it's a right-wing mouthpiece
Formerly owned by Conrad Black's Hollinger Group. "Tens of thousands" is probably what tomorrow's NY Post will say as well.

"Pravdas" for the Pepsi generation.
