McCain: Kerry Fair Game for Questioning
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/ap/20040830/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_convention_rdp

<SNIP>
NEW YORK - Sen. John McCain (news, bio, voting record), R-Ariz., called advertisements run against John Kerry (news - web sites) by pro-Republican Vietnam War veterans "dishonest and dishonorable" but said Monday it's legitimate to question the Democratic presidential candidate's anti-war efforts following his service.
</SNIP>

Someone needs to look into why McCain is having this sudden change of heart.

1. Kerry should start running that commercial again
You know, the one where's he's dissing Bush for sliming him and his family. That'll shut him up permanently.

Stop that bad, bad talk right now. McCain recently said that BOTH Bush and Kerry served honorably. He even smoothed things over with Commander Man by hugging him for all the world to see.

Rodney King was right. We can just all get along....just ask McCain, if the rumors are true that he`s now Bush`s newest best friend.

Bush hasn't said that McCain served honorably--indeed, his push polls accused him of surviving as a war prisoner by consorting with the enemy. Fortunately, Kerry has the means to neutralize him.

7. Did They Make Some Sort Of Deal To Keep
Jedediah out then? Because if Jeb runs McCain can expect the same, if not worse, treatment that he got in 00'. They are much better at character assassination now.

13. No. McCain is correct about that.
The attacks against his war record are despicable lies.

I agree with Kerry's antiwar activities after the war, but I think it's perfectly legitimate for the pukies to attack him on that if they want to.

14. EXCELLENT CALL, denverbill. And furthermore ...
... Those Republican loudmouths better be DAMN freakin' careful what they wish for.

"I came back from Vietnam and saw a failed theory supporting a doomed policy resulting in an impossible mission for the military." Kerry can say, "Any questions?"

21. I'll Go Along With That
I think it would be a pointless excercise for the Repubs to do that, (and that's ok), but it is a fair point of debate.

The actual hot war service stuff, should be off limits.

Good call, denverbill.

17. No, Not God, But He Is Generally Viewed As A Non-Partisan Operator.
So when he says "Dishonest and Dishonorable" folks on both sides of the isle think "he has a point there". Then when he sells out and says that Kerry's post war activities are a legitimate line of attack folks on both sides of the isle think "he has a point there".

Why McCain defends Kerry

<SNIP>
No, not exactly. While serving as a POW, McCain was one of the captives who agreed to be used for propaganda purposes by the enemy. In fact, some argue that an interview he gave to a communist publication – detailing an accident aboard his ship, problems with low morale among U.S. servicemen, the chain of command in the U.S. Navy and other pertinent information – went far beyond mere propaganda and crossed the line into disclosing military intelligence secrets.

On June 5, 1969, the Washington Post carried a story titled, "Reds Say PW Songbird is Pilot Son of Admiral." The article states that, "Hanoi has aired a broadcast in which the pilot son of United States Commander in the Pacific, Adm. John McCain, purportedly admits to having bombed civilian targets in North Vietnam and praises medical treatment he has received since being taken prisoner."

Worse yet, many years later, when both John McCain and John Kerry were serving in the U.S. Senate, they teamed up to betray the families of the POWs and MIAs in favor of sucking up to the murderous Communist Vietnamese regime.

More than any other two men in America, McCain and Kerry orchestrated the cover-up of what became of our Vietnam POWs and MIAs.

Fool, you done been whored out. You don't think they will use this mud against you when you run against the next anointed Bush in 08'

18. I agreed with what Kerry said about the Vietnam war...he should not
run from his statements...he needs to defend what he said and the feelings in the country about the war at that time...

Then he should say...if this issue is more important to you than the issues of this day and time such as health care, jobs, and national security......then vote for the other guy.

Running from it...gives the whole stupid debate energy.

Bush is such a failure that he should be able to deflect any and all criticisms from the thugs.

What's with this new love affair the Right is having with the Vietnam War? To Them, it's as If it was one of the shining moments in US history.

20. Can you say AWOL?
This country was created out of protest. A true patriot must acknowledge that. It is vital to our democracy that when we see injustice, we talk about it. Anything else would be what King George would have wanted. But then, he was insane.
