GOP Sharpens Attacks As Convention Opens
NEW YORK - Republicans sharpened their attacks on John Kerry (news - web sites), with Sen. John McCain (news, bio, voting record) saying Monday it was fair game to criticize the Democrat's anti-war protests three decades ago, while using their national convention to portray President Bush (news - web sites) as a strong wartime leader.

The convention at Madison Square Garden got under way under extremely tight security, with a helicopter hovering overhead and thousands of police posted at barricades. Republicans were paying tribute to victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks in their opening session.

Ahead of the opening gavel, McCain, R-Ariz., told CBS's "The Early Show" that television ads run against Kerry accusing the Democrat of lying about his military service in Vietnam were "dishonest and dishonorable." But, he added, "What John Kerry did after the war is very legitimate political discussion." Kerry was a leader of Vietnam veterans who opposed the war.

3. what a shock!
...and here I thought the Repigs would want to boast about their accomplishments in the last 4 years...ummmm, oops, can't do that.

I wonder if the media whores will lecture and chastise them for attacking Kerry, like they did with pious tones during the DNC for any HINT of a Bush attack. Yeah, right.

4. You don't mean to say that they'll be . . . KERRY-BASHING, do you?!?!?
Wow, what a shock, particularly after all of their pious mooing about the need for the Democrats to present a positive message in Boston!

5. In the media, there is no such thing as "Kerry bashing"
You are either a "Bush supporter" or a "Bush basher" according to the mainstream media.

6. Well, I hope the Kerry campaign is happy
with their decision to "be positive" at the Dem convention in Boston. Because clearly, the Bushistas are following their scum-level instincts again and creating an all-out, five-day bash-a-thon on Kerry.

The entire administration is like one big pinata stuffed with scandals and outrages, and Kerry won't even pick up the bat, let alone whack at it.
