Cheney to visit Oregon Friday
NEW YORK (AP)

Despite its status as a battleground state, Oregon has no scheduled speakers at the Republican National Convention.

But state GOP Chairman Kevin Mannix says that is not a problem, because Oregon has received regular and repeated attention from President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

To underscore the point, Republicans announced Monday that Cheney and U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Ore., will appear together at a rally Friday in Pendleton. ..

"It does show how seriously (Bush and Cheney) are taking our state, and how desperate they are to win it," Smith said.

3. Mannix is an idiot, and, yes, Senator Smith, they are friggin' desperate.
But they're not going to win Oregon. They're just trying to drain our local resources by making us protect their sleazy asses.

10. that's Camp Pendleton, near San Diego...
not Pendleton, OR...

but that fact that Cheney's appearing in Pendleton (in predominately Repuke Eastern Oregon) means they are still scrambling to shore up their base. He doesn't dare show his face in Portland. And thet don't stand a chance in Oregon.
