2008 presidential hopefuls, including Hagel, already courting some delegat
NEW YORK (AP)

To get their foot in the door in Iowa and other leadoff states early, 2008 Republican presidential hopefuls are already meeting with national convention delegates.

One possible candidate, Sen. Chuck Hagel, R- Neb., addressed the Iowa Republican delegation at breakfast on Monday. He was to speak with the New Hampshire delegation Monday evening.

Hagel, who said earlier this month he is considering a 2008 run for president, acknowledged Iowa's important role in the nominating process -- and in this year's general election. ..

David Redlawsk, a University of Iowa political science professor, said potential presidential candidates realize they've got to connect early "particularly when it comes to Iowa and New Hampshire." ..

from the repukes. They are too moderate. They will never win over the base. Sorry, they are DREAMING.

The only way they win is if Bush goes down to a overwhelming landslide defeat - then they may have the smallest of outside chance of taking back a chunk of the repub party. W/O that - they are dead in the water.

4. Hagel would make an ineresting choice. Especially as people begin
digging into the connections between him and his affiliation with the voting machine company that got him elected.

2. Let's just hope one of them
doesn't have the first name of "Jeb" with a last name representing a certain botanical species.

3. that's why Hagel has not defended Kerry
but you can bet Kerry will be defending Hagel when Jeb goes after Hagel on his military service.
