100th soldier from Fort Hood killed in Iraq

Spc. Marco Ross, an Army fuel supply specialist, became the 100th soldier from Fort Hood to die in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion last year that ousted Saddam Hussein from power.

Ross, a 20-year-old from Memphis, Tenn., was killed Wednesday in a mortar attack on a Baghdad base used by the 1st Cavalry Division, which earlier this year deployed to Iraq from the sprawling post in Central Texas. ..

Of those killed, at least 76 of them are from Texas, according to the U.S. Department of Defense. Four Texans have been killed this month in Iraq. The most recent Texan was Marine Lance Cpl. Jacob Lugo of Flower Mound who was killed on Aug. 24. ..

might help when these texans think about voting for bush. my sister was stationed in fort hood. i hope they dont put these soldiers on the front line JUST because they were stationed in texas.

7. Texas Monthly ran an article about this last month

And reprinted about 20 final letters home -- damn near all of them said something to the effect that "the people at home are being lied to, we're only here for oil, there's no reason to be here, the people hate us/don't want us here." Damn near brought tears to my eyes.
