New Staff Additions Strengthen Kerry-Edwards Team for Final Push
US Newswire

With just over two months to go before Election Day, the Kerry-Edwards campaign announced Tuesday that it has brought on board key new staff to help lead the campaign to victory on November 2nd. The new additions strengthen an already impressive campaign team and bolster the campaign's efforts to put John Kerry and John Edwards in the White House.

Joining the Kerry-Edwards campaign: Senior Advisor Joe Lockhart; Director of Rapid Response Joel Johnson; Senior Advisor for National Security Affairs Dr. Susan Rice; Policy Advisor on Israel and the Middle East former Congressman Mel Levine; Elizabeth Edwards Chief of Staff Lori Denham and Elizabeth Edwards Communication Director Karen Finney. ..

Dr. Rice was the co-recipient of the White House’s 2000 Samuel Nelson Drew Memorial Award for distinguished contributions to the formation of peaceful, cooperative relationships between states. She was awarded the Chatham House-British International Studies Association Prize for the most distinguished doctoral dissertation in the United Kingdom in the field of International Relations. Dr. Rice is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on several boards including the National Democratic Institute, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF and the Internews Corporation.

23. THIS one
. . . really went to Stanford. I don't know if anyone else has ever noticed, but the Pukes always try to give off the impression that Condoid went to Stanford. In fact, she merely taught there; her academic credentials are not as impressive as they try to make them.

None of this is intended as school snobbery, by the way; it's about Rethuglican duplicity.

11. What's your problem??
We're all enamored with a Billionaireness (with a B)who married her pile of dough and was, until late last year, a very socially-prominent Pubbie and you're worried about oil and gas contracts?! At this point in do-or-die race, could it possibly matter??

33. She DOES sound better than Condi...but look at her first job! Same as
Condi's for Chevron...why shouldn't I be suspicious. It sounds like a "cheap trick" finding another Condi Clone with same last name but this one has a Liberal UN/Brookings Background compared to Condi.

It really sounds weird...and cruel...Why would Kerry Campaign do this?

10. Seeing how I'm a basement person
I had to check out Mel Levine.

<<snip>>

Until recently, he served on the board of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), but has cut his activities in advocacy groups since becoming chairman of the non-political Community Relations Committee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.

Bruce Herschensohn, Mel Levine, Debate Effectiveness of Bush Policy in War on Terror, Role of UN

Conservative author, television commentator exchanges views with liberal attorney and former congressman.

Leslie Evans

From left: Bruce Herschensohn, Steven Spiegel, Mel Levine

Conservative television commentator and author Bruce Herschensohn shared the platform with liberal former Congressman Mel Levine at UCLA's James West Alumni Center October 17 for a wide ranging debate on multilateralism versus unilateralism, focusing on the role of the United Nations, the war in Iraq, and the Bush administration's effectiveness in the fight against terrorism. The event was sponsored by the United Nations Foundation as part of a series of such discussions across the country. It was hosted at UCLA by the Ronald W. Burkle Center for International Relations.

The meeting was opened by Political Science Professor Steven Spiegel, who is associate director of the Burkle Center. He noted that the question lends itself to three positions: "(1) we never should have done it in the first place; (2) the administration has done fine; (3) the war was right but the administration did not plan adequately enough for reconstruction." He noted that with only two speakers there was no representative at this particular event for the first view.

Mel Levine spoke first. He had served as a member of the California Assembly, 1977-82, and was a U.S. congressman, 1983-93. He is currently a partner in the law firm of Gibson, Dunne and Krutcher. For some years he served as copresident of Builders for Peace, which sought to assist the Middle East peace process.

12. Mel Levine Middle East Policy Adviser- Staunch supporter of Israel
Middle Eastern policy is the biggest area I disagree with Kerry on. But that will wait till after the election.

Israel is thrilled with the selection though

17. They ought to hire Garry South
He was Gray Davis campaign manager in the original 2002 election (the one before the recall) and pulled it off for Gray. He has been described as a Mako shark patrolling the waters of the Left Coast. When he's finished with you, you're chum in the water.

Kerry needs someone who is lethal.

27. There are differences between how and what you support....there are
three distinctions...

supporting Israel
supporting Sharon
supporting Israel and Palestine through negotiations

I'll be waiting to see which kind of Israel supporter he is.

If Sharon - forget about him.
