CNN Refuses Gay Republican Ads
New York City) CNN is refusing to run a television ad campaign produced by the Log Cabin Republicans.

In a letter to the gay Republican group the Cable News Network said that images in the ad are “too controversial.”

The 30-second commercial aims to counter what the gay Republican group sees as an extreme right wing takeover of the party.

Monday, delegates to the Republican National Convention approved a conservative platform that endorses an amendment to the Constitution to prevent gay couples from any form of recognition and calls for curbs on federal judges from ruling in cases involving gay marriage or domestic partnerships. 8. Exactly, Walt. Exactly
Gayness is more controversial than ripping apart a man's honorable service and awards.

I'd say that was crazy, but actually, for Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, and Imperial Amerika, it makes perfect sense.

Of course the Nazis would have killed the gays and the Soviets would have Gulagged them, but hey, we're America and our Totalitarianism is going to be Kinder and Genlter than theirs.

PLUS, we haven't seen the Finished Product of Imperial Totalitarianism, so it's not fair to compare (yet).

20. Actually I see it as good. Maybe it will wake up the LCR!
What images could a Republican group have in their ad that could possibly be "too controversial" for CNN.

I hope that the LCR are asking themselves hard questions right now. Like, are the tax breaks really worth this?

or *gasp* GOLFING at a country club together.

I'd be interested in seeing just how "moving" the LCR ads are..

I hope they stop sticking needles in their eyes, give up on the RNC and join us.

21. It seems to be all about tax breaks in the LCR interviews I've read
Gay people can be wealthy and greedy just like anybody else. Some people have to choose between their avaricious desire for tax breaks and their desire to be treated with decency. Apparently the LCR either chose money over self-respect, or they were severely deluded.

Maybe this will help them wake up.

from Right Wing Hate.

But history shows that after the Neo-Con Version of the GOP is done doing away with Muslims they will turn on the next group.

Because that's the only way these reptiles can stay in power.

Constantly finding another new group to persecute and destroy.

Question: Which would the GOP concentrate on eradicating first after Muslims- Jews, Blacks or Gays?

I would figure Catholics would come last.

40. you'd be surprised how nice a lubricant
money is.

the people with money don't have to live by the same rules the rest of us do. they can get away with a lot due to the insulation that money gives them.

those log cabin bois know that and expect to be protected by their wealth. and it will work, too.

GOPPP

guardians of prejudice, privilege and piety. that pretty much covers the republican base.

Could CNN just refuse any John Kerry commercials under the guise they are “too controversial?”

We can see a dangerous precedent is being set here. Complete control of the media is almost in place.

broadcast license revoked.

But since the rovians have the FCC packed with their compliant little darksiders, until Kerry fixes the FCC, the idea of a challenge is moot.

18. OK, everybody is upset about this, but...
To me, the interesting thing is how CNN has successfully changed it's image from right wing to 'liberal' without changing their politics or tactics. I've seen this demonstrated many times over the last year or two. Fox and MSNBC call CNN liberal and pretty soon the label gets picked up by the rest of the media outlets.

Sometimes I feel like america is nothing but a huge musical instrument. And we're all being played and plucked...

The group is so concerned about the platform and President Bush's position on the proposed amendment to ban gay marriage that it will not endorse his reelection bid during the convention.

LCR said it would meet next week to decided what to do about supporting Bush.

41. Has anybody from the Democratic Party sent LCR an invitation
to come on home where they belong? I figure LCR's are on the dark side due to economic conservatism, but can't they see that Democrats are really the one who are fiscally responsible? I can't imagine staying in a party that has such low regard for their legal rights and their own dignity.
