Kerry Faults Bush for WTO Sanctions Threat

Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry on Tuesday accused the Bush administration of failing to protect American jobs from unfair foreign competition after the World Trade Organization approved sanctions on $150 million of U.S. exports.

"Once again, the Bush administration failed to stand up for American companies and workers at the WTO, and as a result, unfair trade practices are hurting our economy and middle class families," Kerry said in a statement. ..

"I'm deeply chagrined at this administration, which has not been vigorous in defending our trade remedy laws," said Rep. Sander Levin, a Michigan Democrat who is one of his party's main spokesmen on trade. "Of the 17 (trade remedy) cases during their administration, they've got three wins and 14 losses." ..
