Troops to patrol Nigerian oil city
Lagos - Troops have been deployed in the southern Nigerian oil city of Port Harcourt after two days of deadly gunbattles between rival gangs that left at least five dead, police said on Tuesday.

Gunfire broke out at around 4am (03h00 GMT) on Sunday and heavy exchanges of automatic gunfire could be heard around the waterfront area of the port known as Marine Base for the next eight hours.

"The violence continued on Monday at the waterfront and some cult members who came out of their hideout after Sunday's clashes," Rivers State police spokesperson Barasua Ireju said.

Blame it on "cult members". For once a journalist told the truth. "Bush/Cheney Murder for Oil Cult."
