Daschle defends footage of Bush hug in campaign ad (Wed. Press Conference)
(There's an earlier thread on yesterday's comments from the Republicans. This is Daschle's response from today.)

Daschle defends footage of Bush hug in campaign ad

The embrace occurred just after the president had addressed the nation in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, said Daschle, who was Senate majority leader at the time.

"This was a time to show unity," said Daschle. "There was nothing contrived about that hug."

snip......

Daschle said the ad was designed to show that there are times when the nation's leaders need to show emotion in a public way.

"The country saw leadership at its best," he said.

5. just ask Jean Carnahan
how that worked for her. (it didn't - you hit right on the head - be a Dem or be a puke - but just be something!)

7. Bingo.
Appeasement does NOT work AT ALL. We've seen how it failed. Carnahan in MO is a perfect example.

8. Do people in SD want their Dem leaders showing emotion by hugging Bush?
How about a good cry instead - did he really need to hug Bush and then brag about it?

Daschle is weak - I hope he wins his seat and loses the leadership role immediatly after.
