One Dead As Nepal Mob Targets Egyptian Embassy After Iraq Killings

KATHMANDU, Sept 1 (AFP)

Security guards at the Egyptian embassy in Kathmandu shot dead one person and injured three others Wednesday to disperse a mob enraged by the killing of 12 Nepalese workers in Iraq, officials said.

Several hundred people chanting slogans against Islamic extremists marched to the Egyptian embassy, which handles Iraqi interests in the Himalayan kingdom, a police official said.

"To disperse this mob, the security guards opened fire, resulting in three people injured and one dead," a home ministry statement said.

The guards were part of Nepal's Armed Police Force which protects foreign missions. ..

3. There has been a Maoist war going on in Nepal for years.

Nepal is hardly a peaceful place. Rebels have been trying to sieze control of it for years.
