Bush Approval Rating Back Above 50 Percent
United Press International

An Annenberg Election Survey completed prior to the Republican National Convention showed George W. Bush's job approval rating rose in August.

Bush's job approval rating among 5,146 registered voters surveyed Aug. 9-29 was 53 percent, compared with 50 percent during a July 5-25 survey. The margin of error was plus or minus 2 percentage points.

The same poll showed Democratic presidential nominee John F. Kerry had a 45 percent favorable rating in August, up from July's 43 percent. ..

Bush's favorable rating rose to 50 percent from 48 percent, according to the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg poll, based in Philadelphia.

6. UPI did not do the poll
they just reported the results.

Both went up, Bush barely made it out of the margin of error after a month dominated by the swifties.

9. Don't forget the Olympics
Iraq and the economy were off the radar screen when this poll was done, so it's no surprise at all.

13. Um, Kerry was ahead by 4 during or right after his convention, too
in that poll. It fluctuates, but no one ever has a big lead.

12. So, counting the MOE, that is a 1% improvement since the DNC month...
now that he's in the middle of his own convention. Barely over 50%. Even in the most optimistic (for him) of polls.

17. Consider your source before you post!
Does the name Walter Annenberg mean anything to you? Sheesh. Some people just want to demoralize us with faux rw polls. Why do you listen or post this? Ask yourself, is it helpful to Kerry?

21. David Eisenhower predicts
On the first nite of the repug convention, David and Julie (Nixon) Eisenhower were interviewed by either CNN or MSNBC, I forget, but David works for the Annenburg foundation. He said the director of Annenburg had a big prediction, namely that bu$h's numbers would break soon, and Kerry would never catch up. Said the prediction was backed up by lots of data. He and Julie were grinning like cheshire cats...yeeesh.
