AP: Kerry Slams Bush on Iraq War, Economy (HITTING BACK HARD!)
Kerry Slams Bush on Iraq War, Economy

By MARY DALRYMPLE, Associated Press Writer

Fighting back, Democratic Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) called President Bush (news - web sites) "unfit to lead this nation" because of the war in Iraq (news - web sites) and his record on jobs, health care and energy prices. He lashed out at the incumbent and Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) for avoiding service in the Vietnam War.

"I'm not going to have my commitment to defend this country questioned by those who refused to serve when they could have and by those who have misled the nation into Iraq," Kerry said in prepared remarks issued as the Republican was poised to accept his party's nomination for a second term.

Bush served stateside in the Texas Air National Guard. Cheney received five deferments and never served in the military.

Earlier Thursday, Kerry's running mate, John Edwards (news - web sites), accused Republicans of using their convention to assail Kerry rather than offer ideas for solving the nation's most pressing problems.

The GOP spent "all of their time and all of their energy trying to tear down a patriot," Edwards told a town-hall audience in the Philadelphia suburb of Norristown, Pa.

"The anger we heard from Senator Miller, the anger we heard from the vice president — anger is not going to change this country and do what needs to be done for America," Edwards said. Where was the "anger and venom" about the millions of Americans who had lost their health insurance or their jobs? he asked.

"It doesn't surprise me that the vice president of the United States spent most of his speech talking about John Kerry because you know he doesn't want to talk about what they've done to this country," the North Carolina senator said.

And I want to hear Kerry SAY these words, not just issue the remarks.

When he starts saying them at every appearance I think he will kick Bush's butt....

It's a 5!!

12. Now, Kerry can say that he was on the high road
until **** started slinging the mud. I am sure that the mud Kerry dumps on him will bury him on that low road he has traveled his whole life.

9. Well folks, we are about to see the Kerry/Edwards team in action. This is
another form of 'combat', and we know that Kerry is no coward (unlike his opponent).

It's going to be a very interesting fall.

He can't just hit back he has to pulverize them. Some key words would be liars, corrupt, criminals, cowards, frauds, bankrobbers, con artist, mafia, gangleaders, murderers, etc.
I would love to hear a speech that started with "the era of big crime is over". I'll be waitng tonight with baited breath.

13. Neo Fascist's bogus "Support the troops"
I hope Kerry and Edwards lay it out how the Neo Fascists are screwing over the troops. They should also mention those disgusting bandaids. This is more than just another election. This is a war to take back the country from the Neo Facists and their Corporate backers.

15. The strategy is EXCELLENT. LET the bush regime hang themselves, trip
themselves up with their hate talk.

Kerry has a LOT of ammo, and the bush regime has just fired the last of their volleys; their supply is now limited. All they can do is whimper and repeat the same trash over and over and look more stupid each time it's refuted.

WE need to stand together and RIDICULE bush, while defending our good man.

Edited on Thu Sep-02-04 07:46 PM by rumguy
It was a seething, vile, disgusting thing to see.

It was a Klan rally.

Our leaders reached out and tried to inspire the American people.

They just divided and puked out hate on the American people.

And these are their leaders. Just think how the average pig thinks?

The speech can't be changed and the platform is set in stone. They have no room to maneuver in response to this attack. Cool.

27. Hallelujah!! Break out the vino. Kerry lives!!
My advice to the Republicans, is to.... "open wide for Chunky".

I don't think this country is quite so insane (yet), that it would re-elect a man, and an administration, that lied to the nation about a war, a war that's killed almost 1,000 of our young people, injured almost 8,000 (not to mention the tens of thousands Iraqi citizens killed), and that is sucking our Treasury dry. While we pay for the war, Halliburton, and the oil companies make billions, protected with our dollars, and lives.

There are hundreds of other cases of criminality and treason within this administration. Hopefully, Kerry will appoint Eliot Spitzer AG, and let him prosecute those who have betrayed our country.
