Bush: World Must Thwart Bombers' Totalitarian Aim
CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President Bush condemned this week's suicide bombing attacks in Jerusalem and Baghdad on Saturday as part of militant campaigns to impose a "totalitarian vision."

"These two bombings reveal, once again, the nature of the terrorists, and why they must be defeated," Bush said in his weekly radio address, which was prerecorded.

"Terrorists commit atrocities because they want the civilized world to flinch and retreat so they can impose their totalitarian vision," Bush said.

He said the two bombings were attacks in a war against "every free nation and all our citizens." He vowed to keep fighting and prevail.

4. but how?
at some point, people are going to get sick of this vague shit, and demand he say exactly what the plan is, and demand that he prove any "progress" he's claiming, instead of just asking us to take his word for it.

8. Bush is the one with a "totalitarian vision"!
The bombing in Iraq fueled speculation the U.S. occupation is facing an influx of Muslim fundamentalist militants sympathetic to al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Bush said on Friday "al Qaeda-type fighters" were now opposing the occupation in Iraq.

Well, duh? Didn't the peace demonstrators warned back in February that toppling Saddam by the US would be a bonanza to Islamic radicals everywhere? Where was Bush during the peace marches?

America will reap what it has sown!

12. The sickening irony here is that Junior's exactly right.
Terrorists commit atrocities because they want the civilized world to flinch and retreat so they can impose their totalitarian vision

this IS exactly what was done to that UN building. It's also exactly what was done on 9-11-01. Terrorists who induce mass hysteria and fear to impose their totalitarian vision. Terrorists known as the Bush Criminal Empire.

13. I do not like it when Bush* calls others "totalitarian"
Edited on Sat Aug-23-03 04:19 PM by w4rma
Because it has been my observation that Bush* and the Republican leadership nearly *always* project their own traits onto anyone who opposes them. (And they are in charge of our government, currently.)

projection
8. Psychology.

a. The attribution of one's own attitudes, feelings, or suppositions to others: “Even trained anthropologists have been guilty of unconscious projection—of clothing the subjects of their research in theories brought with them into the field” (Alex Shoumatoff).

b. The attribution of one's own attitudes, feelings, or desires to someone or something as a naive or unconscious defense against anxiety or guilt.

And, I *really* don't like it in this case because these particular folks who oppose him are bombing the U.N. and picking off U.S. soldiers.

Bush* shouldn't have invaded Iraq. Bush* REALLY needs to go and beg the countries in the U.N. for help and the leadership that Bush* obviously can't provide.
