(Australian) Howard gets tongue-bashing
http://www.news24.com/News24/World/News/0,,2-10-1462_1583895,00.html

Sydney - Australia's political leaders endured an earbashing on Saturday when they faced the public for the first time ahead of a 9 October election.

Prime Minister John Howard abandoned the carefully choreographed media appearances of the first week of the campaign to go walkabout in his Sydney electorate - only to be told by one woman that he was "stinking piece of dog excrement".

Another constituent demanded to know why Australia would not ratify the Kyoto protocol on climate change, while a third criticised Australia's "despicable" involvement in the Iraq war.

"You claimed the lives of thousands of men, women and children just to get rid of one stupid, guilty one, Saddam Hussein," the man yelled at Howard.

Go Aussies!

1. LOL @ "stinking piece of dog excrement". Australians are getting
shafted much the way we are over here and they're sick and tired of it.

2. My Australian relatives are visiting
They say that folks Down Under are embarrassed by their PM. A quote from them: "Howard's like a pitiful little boy, bragging that he's good buddies with the schoolyard bully, George Bush. He thinks it makes him look important, and it's disgusting to see him get all flushed and excited about his important friend George. We can't bear to watch it."

popular with the local Asian community anymore, which signals big trouble. I think he's toast.

this is a fairly conservative area and I've never seen people react like that in public certainly not with him. Just one too many lies.

4. I wish Bush would go "walkabout".....he'd be slammed
Real people aren't EVER allowed to talk to him (except for that Irish reporter who was severly reprimanded).

5. Haha
My Aussie boyfriend hates Howard just as much as I hate *...and that's really saying something. :P

I just love the idea of ordinary people yelling at him. This is exactly why Rove & Co. don't dare stage these kinds of photo-ops with the Chimperor, he'd get exactly the same reception.

Maybe Howard needs to have ppl sign loyalty oaths or something. :silly:
