Gasoline disbribution will be regulated (Gov. Bush)
Sunday, September 05, 2004

Gasoline distribution will be regulated
Gov. Jeb Bush has issued an executive order to regulate who gets gasoline and how.

Bush cites the current fuel shortage in Florida, which is so severe even search-and-rescue teams are in short supply.

He makes the Department of Environmental Protection responsible to supervise the allocation and distribution of fuel.

That puts DEP in the driver's seat of deciding what areas of the state get gasoline and other fuels. DEP Secretary Colleen Castille also will be able to issue emergency rules to make that happen.

1. under the circumstances with Ivan on it's way
they do need to make sure supplies get to all who need them

while I shudder when I hear the "Bush" name and martial law in the same sentence, Floridians need some serious help

too bad your National Guardsmen are in Iraq instead of home doing their jobs in the state disaster

3. Voter registration cards to serve as ration cards
Registered Republicans will be given preference, just like in Iraq reconstruction contracts.

15. After Hurricane Andrew the price of lumber went up and never came down
A lot of contractors told me that it was a deliberate scam. Lumber industry used Andrew as an excuse to hike the cost of wood nationwide, and the prices never returned to prior levels.

Look for similar types of pervasive price gouging. Corporations never miss an opportunity to use human suffering to make another buck.

8. Great! First Bonnie, then Charley, now Frances, and soon Ivan. Hasn't
Florida enough on its plate without Jebbie rationing gas? This just sounds like another opportunistic manipulation of a crises that could be handled with less drastic means.

I've lived in Florida for thirty years, and I don't remember a time, even during the gas shortage crises that we needed gas rationing.

9. I'm sure it's fabricated
Wait for this headline: "Gov. Bush to approve increased drilling off coast of Florida"

Just like the "energy shortage" in CA a few years ago.

Hey, that gives me an idea - they used the CA shortage as an excuse to oust Davis, maybe now Gov. Bush can be ousted too!

11. Jeb is a day late and a dollar short
Gas supplies started running out all over the state on Thursday, leaving many people who were trying to evacuate stranded.

Now 3 days later, he's just waking up to this fact and instead of asking Big Brother to send down emergency supplies from the National Reserve, he's going to implement some bogus rationing plan.

Can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

16. In op-ed news the editor wonders if "Fl.Mandatory Evac is a boiled frog
step towards police state actions".

Rob Kall, editor of the Op-Ed News wonders if Florida's Mandatory Evacuation is a boiled frog step towards police state actions".

Having been through many Florida hurricanes, having never seen anyone arrested for staying in their barrier islands home; having heard that two men who broke the mandatory evacuation laws this past weekend were indeed arrested by the police in South Florida, and having now read that Georgie Boy's Equally Love-Sick For Power and Control Brother, Jeb Bush, issued an executive order to regulate who gets gasoline and how, i tend to fully agree with Rob Kall's ponder. Jebbie may in fact be preparing us all for the soon to come Florida Jackbooted Police State. In fact, I was even horrified yesterday when I heard over the radio that some Palm Beach Emergency Agency's generator (I cannot remember the name of the agency) was running out of Diesel Fuel and was asking anyone in the public to donate any extra Diesel Fuel they were not using provided it was safe (weather permitting) for any member of the public with said extra fuel to drive the fuel to the particular agency. IMAGINE. I did not know what to make of that when I heard it. Reading this post now makes that whole tidbit a little more enlightening.

oh, here is the link to Rob Kall's article.

17. Well, it won't be a police state long
if they all run out of gas.

Besides, with most of the National Guard in Iraq, he doesn't have the manpower to do much about anything.
